At this point, why are we still putting “Holding Out for a Hero” in movies? You’re just setting it up for failure because nothing will ever top the Shrek 2 version.

I don’t think it would have fully saved it because the movie itself has so many structural problems besides its lackluster representation of Galaxy. But it at least would have been honest and kept expectations tempered.

As a sequel to the first move it’s…harmless. I don’t really like this movie but I can see people enjoying it.

As an adaptation of Mario Galaxy, it’s insulting.

I’m at the Bronx Botanical Garden and my dad says he hasn’t seen any fungus around and I had to double take when my grandma simply responded with “Among Us”.

It's shocking how many tend to excuse Miyamoto when talking about what's wrong with this movie. Its very clear based on his history and in interviews that he sees story in Mario VERY differently compared to many of us. He's been very clear how involved in production for these movies he is.

This is like the truest thing I've ever seen.

Pros: I don't have to wait 2 weeks to avoid spoilers coming from one of the worst online fandoms of all time 😎

Cons: I have to be around said fandom in real life 😔

It's honestly a game I appreciate more and more every time I play it.

So many great elements: Sound design, the way your crew interacts seamlessly on the ship, the music, the combat, THE MULTIPLAYER

Given how strained its development was, its honestly a miracle its as good as it is.

There was a scene in the Mario Galaxy movie where Peach uses a mushroom and grows to like 12 feet tall and towers over Wart and I had to pretend to be completely normal and unfazed next to my normie friend 😳

Its also the only "growth" she has in the film because it certainly isn't character growth.

I think we need to start calling people "genfivers" as a derogatory term the same way we did genwunners

Yeah that would probably be my biggest disappointment assuming it’s not there. That’s like the one thing I wanted for a Galaxy movie.

Feels like an easy layup but again, it doesn’t seem like Nintendo is actually interested in adapting what made Galaxy stand out from the rest.

On the one hand, it means new creatives step in for the games who care more about storytelling and characters as an equal factor to gameplay and fun.
On the other hand, for the film sector that can’t lean on the latter, you have it headed by someone who famously does not care for the former.

That said (and granted this is without seeing the movie yet so take it for what it’s worth),
I think we might be seeing the double edged sword that comes with Miyamoto stepping away from the games side of Nintendo and shifting over to films.

Honestly I’m too old to get upset about this even if it does turn out to be a let down. Kinda just already accepted that Nintendo/Illumination aren’t really interested in adapting Galaxy and just wanted a farming device to set up their “NCU”. It is what it is.
