It has been one of the hardest 24h in a while.

russia launched 703 air targets, incl 19 ballistic missiles and 25 cruise missiles.

At least 9 people were killed in Odesa, 3 in Dnipro and 4 in Kyiv, incl a 12yo boy. More than 80 people were injured.

Please, don't look away.

Holocaust survivor freezes to death in Kyiv as Russia’s missile strikes knock out power Yevgenia Besfamilnaya survived the Nazis. She did not survive Russia's war.

Russia's energy terror killed a Holocaust survivor in Kyiv.

On 13 January, plumbers found Yevgenia Besfamilnaya—"Baba Zhenya" to her neighbors—frozen solid in her apartment. Russian missiles had knocked out power and heat across the capital.

I stumbled upon this FB post accidentally and it stuck with me today.

“What I saw today through TV screen.

A terrible hole in an Odesa building.

A passenger train carriage engulfed in flames near Kharkiv, bombed by Russia, and a young mother pulling a stroller with a tiny baby out of another carriage.

An elderly civilian couple in the Sumy region deliberately killed by a drone. First her, then him - it was a real hunt. He was pulling her on a sled along an empty snowy road; they were evacuating from their village.

And just now—a news report about an old lonely woman who froze to death in her Kyiv apartment. Her name was Granny Zhenya, and her surname was Besfamilnaya (“No Surname”).

This woman survived the Holocaust; she received the surname in an orphanage. And now the fascists have finally killed her. Literally frozen her. And I learned about it on Holocaust Remembrance Day.

I was afraid to even think that one day we would learn about such a death. We learned about it on the day of remembrance of the Siege [of Leningrad. And the main Nazi on this planet was today melodramatically kissing funeral wreaths in solitary grief.

He pulled off the perfect combo: killed Evgenia Mikhailovna Besfamilnaya both for the Holocaust and for the Siege; she fit both occasions perfectly. The last victim.

But it wasn’t he personally who bombed sleeping homes in the historic center of Odesa at night.

But it wasn’t he personally who bombed sleeping homes in the historic center of Odesa at night.
It wasn’t he who attacked the passenger train. It wasn’t he personally who deliberately directed death at the elderly husband and wife.

It wasn’t he personally who methodically destroys vital infrastructure in Kyiv that is essential for life support - and with double tap strikes kills first responders.

I also saw post-Soviet whores living in different countries who—for a small price (which is obvious, strangely not to everyone), cheekily and sermonizingly, claim “you should’ve agreed to negotiate, and none of this would have happened.”

Don’t think for a moment that their hearts are truly aching for Ukrainians. And unfortunately, there are living beings in their comments who now echo them for free.

I also heard RU actor Kharatyan sing the old Vysotsky song “Moscow–Odesa” with a smirk. With words about Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Lviv, where he “doesn’t need to go,” but he needs to go to Odesa, oh what bad luck, the runway is icy, but he needs to, he needs to go there…

Bombed building.
Bombed train.
Husband and wife shot from the air.
An old woman who survived the Holocaust, frozen to death in a city being destroyed.
What else is left for these demons to “repeat”?

What else is left for their followers to justify or explain?

How to stop repeating to myself the words of my Odesa Facebook friend—a person of steely strength—that after what she saw today, tears have been rolling down her face all day?
How to stop seeing in my head the carriage engulfed in flames and the surprised baby in the stroller right next to it on the snow?

How to stop seeing in my head the carriage engulfed in flames and the surprised baby in the stroller right next to it on the snow?

How to stop replaying over and over again the beginning— a man pulling a woman on a sled through the snow, and then they are lying there?

How to stop realizing again and again: an old woman who survived the Holocaust froze to death on Holocaust Remembrance Day, in a city where new Nazis are recreating the Siege during the days when they themselves mourn the Siege in solemn remembrance and say “never again”…?

How to live? How to live with those who do this with deeds or words, how to live in the same physical space with those for whom this is normal? How. To. Live. With. This. And. With. These. People?”

Ukraine’s drones just took out another oil refinery in Dagestan, a munitions plant in Mordovia, and a chemical plant in Bryansk. Meanwhile, Russia targets kindergartens. 🚀🎯 It's not hard to pick a side when you see the difference. Spread the truth and watch the collapse of the Kremlin.

💔 The whole of #Ukraine watched and prayed yesterday. His parents hoped all day he was alive after the #Russian attack on #Kyiv.
Dmytro Isayenko, 31 — a young master’s student, a life ahead of him — killed in the strike.
Rest in peace. My heart breaks for his family… 🕯
