Not sure if its possible but End of Life devices should have their Firmware etc made available as Open Source so that other communities can build stuff on them. Stuff like Media/home controllers or just a basic Browser tablet.
I'm so glad I don't have to do the weekly commute to various EU countries; especially the ones, like Sweden, where I needed to transit via another country.
