Dublin currently has ZERO cycle lanes under construction.

You'd think the climate crisis, collapsing AMOC, fossil fuel supply crisis, obesity epidemic, traffic jams or appalling road death increases didn't exist.

No urgency. Just subsidies for ... yep... more fossil fuels 😞

BREAKING: Federal Bill Would Put Big Oil Above the Law | Center for Climate Integrity Republicans Introduce Legislation to Give Fossil Fuel Companies Immunity from Any Laws or Lawsuits Seeking to Hold them Accountable for their Role in the Climate Crisis

Republicans know they are about to lose the House and are trying to give Big Oil its holy grail: legal immunity from any futures actions that would hold the industry responsible for the climate crisis it knowingly caused and is making worse every day.

Can you imagine the headline: 'Attempted murder arrest after knife hits pedestrian on Argyll Street'? No, of course you can't. Because no sub would ever write that!!

“…Irreversible for hundreds to thousands of years”

“Irreversible”.

This is infinitely more consequential than Trump, oil prices, Hormuz etc. yet we continue to ignore it.

Ep 13 - The Iniskea Prospect Should Ireland leave all its oil and gas reserves in the ground or drill to achieve energy independence?

The suggestion that Ireland should reverse the ban on drilling for oil and gas has popped up again.
I made a programme looking at this from every imaginable angle.

Listen: 👉 www.rte.ie/radio/radio1...

Spoiler alert: The arguments for drilling don’t add up.

Stop subsidizing sprawl! If you want a big fully detached house with a private yard, you should have to pay what that actually costs. It’s outrageous that we’ve artificially made suburbia cheaper than the city in North America.

The European city banning all fossil fuel and meat adverts in public Amsterdam initially proposed the move in 2020, becoming the first city in the world to do so.

“Amsterdam is set to ban climate-damaging advertising [fossil fuel & meat adverts] in public spaces, following a trend spreading across Dutch cities.

France has also enacted legislation outlawing adverts from non-renewable energy companies, & one Italian city has plans to do the same.” #UrbanTruth

The only way to durably protect hauliers - and the economy - against fossil fuel shocks is to support them to electrify trucks.

Sales of electric trucks in China outsold diesel trucks last December.

So far this year, only one electric HVG was newly registered in Ireland.

Galway ring road planning inspector’s report has little grasp on reality Comment & Analysis: The idea that a project is established in local and national policy should hold some weight, but the An Coimisian Pleanala Inspector’s Report on the N6 Galway City Ring Road shows little willingness to analyse the validity of such policies or how they conflict with other policies. At least not in terms of the outcome of similar roads all around the world.

Never a better time to avail of the bike to work scheme. There are brilliant independent bike shops all over the country who know their stuff.

€3,000 for cargo & ecargo bikes.
€1,500 for pedal-assist bikes
€1,250 for other bikes.

The thing is with rewilding, it doesn't just have the power to reverse nature loss, but to bring immense meaning, wonder and joy to the lives of all those who engage.

After nearly 17 years myself, I can tell you it just keeps on getting better and better.

I think I was pretty visible today when a woman pulled out of a driveway without looking and nearly hit me. I had a blinking front light too. High-viz will never be a solution for poor infrastructure and dangerous drivers.
