A friendly reminder to those who may stumble upon this, that we need to be especially vigilant and careful in the coming days. Stay safe out there!
How'd ya like it?
Just a heads up. I was able to schedule my COVID vaccine appointment. Online it will ask “do you have a condition that puts you at high risk for severe outcomes from COVID-19 virus.”
Click yes and it will allow you to schedule an appointment.
No questions asked.
No proof required.
Pass it on.
I just had to post this and get the thoughts out of my head because they've been swimming around for weeks. If you haven't seen the movie, I highly recommend. It may just be my favorite horror movie. The writing is incredible and the actors do a fantastic job. 10/10, will watch again.
Other victims return to themselves, not all but some. But Alex and his family don't. They carry the burden of that trauma the hardest because he was her first real victim.
Anyway, that's my interpretation. I hope I'm not the only one that sees these parallels and I'm sorry for the bleak subject.
I don't think there's anything wrong with seeing the movie as a story about a mass shooting. But I think that misses a lot of hints that point towards something worse for the primary character and victim which is Alex and his family. Afterwards, they can't ever be the same.
3. Alex can't free himself alone. It isn't with the help of law, or family, or his town that he escapes. It is only with the help of other victims, rising as a group that is too big and loud to ignore does justice occur. Not a single victim can break the cycle, society requires all of them.
2. The Witch isolates her victim like abusers do. She keeps him from his family and friends. She threatens to harm anyone who he tells. She convinces everyone else (Parents, Principals, Police) that he is safe and there's nothing to worry about. From a child's perspective, what is that but magic?
From Alex's point of view, this is a story about Child Abuse and Sexual Assault.
1. The antagonist is a family member. He isn't familiar with the Witch, but his parents are at least passingly aware of her. They trust her enough to let her move into their home, and have complete access to him.
2. While the film includes a single dream involving a firearm, it doesn't seem to me to contain much else in relation to a mass shooting. Matter of fact, the kids coming back at all at the end of the film defies that interpretation.
Instead I have another theory that I haven't seen mentioned.
But I have a couple issues with that reading:
1. While it is true he was bullied, that isn't a primary motivator for school shooters generally and it's not his motivation either. His primary goal is to free his parents. He isn't getting revenge, and he doesn't know what will happen to his class.
I've seen a lot of discussion about how the movie can be viewed as an allegory for school shootings. I can see how we get there, from the Firearm Dream to the 17 students all vanishing at once and the grief the town goes through over the incident no one wants to talk about. It's a compelling thought
Ok, so I'm neither movie critic nor someone who has any expertise in film critique but I've become recently obsessed with WEAPONS. I'd like to discuss my thoughts on the movie I haven't seen anyone else say. Sorry if I"m repeating things I haven't seen. Spoilers for WEAPONS ahead.
This is for the baby my buddy and his wife are gonna have. This is the vibe they wanted.
Snowy trees and crowd with protest signs outside Colorado Springs City Hall
A protest sign with a drawing of a brick that reads Marsha sends her regards
It's about 30°F and snowing in COS today but there is a large and lively crowd at the protest!
"Do Not Comply In Advance" X bossy X already a cliche X implies permission to comply later "Fuck You, Make Me" leads by example directs yelling at opposition instead of allies easy to chant at a protest or put on a banner
Honestly? I recommend you just build what feels right and suits your playstyle. Guides are great, but unless you're planning to do hardcore raid runs I really think you should just prioritize what feels natural for you. Some of my most fun characters were ones using unpopular specs and builds.
I'm kinkshaming. Not because you should kinkshame people, but because Elon Musk in particularly should be ashamed of every breath he's ever taken and every thought he's ever had. He needs to feel even a sample of the suffering he's forced on everyone around him.
But you don't understand, I can't play the newest pokemon abomination on it! And I can't play the newest Mario kart for 40 dollars more than its worth! I can't live without my nintendo overpriced slop funneled directly into my gaping maw!

Here is another story of the cruelty & illegal actions of the Trump administration.
I could not post the full video because it’s longer than 3 mins, so here is the link if you have Tiktok.
We MUST keep pushing back on these EVIL actions be ICE.

I dunno why we keep circling back to this idea that the real reason we don't have as big a presence is " Lefties aren't willing to post a billion times a day " instead of the more obvious " Lefties have a higher standard for content they will consume "
Quick question, did it take more time to type up this bare bones memo, or more time to figure out what pretty font to stamp across the top of the page?
This letter is, and I mean this sincerely, the LEAST you could do. Any less would be nothing. Please get your shit together and do something.
So we're allowed to have a theocratic ethnostate, as long as that theocratic ethnostate is performatively Jewish?
Yeah, that sounds fine. I'm sure that choice isn't going to lead to a genocide. Good call... *checks notes* ... Democratic congressman?
It's not ignorance, it's malice. He KNOWS what game is being played, and he's on the side of the people who pay him. It doesn't benefit them to see the government close, it doesn't benefit them to see a large scale depression. Therefore he votes against these things and dooms the populace to suffer.
" Tech companies don't want to reform things "
Have you tried to pass any legislation to make them reform?
" Well no, but we really want them to come to congress and talk about it. "
Why not subpoena them?
" That's a lot of work. Let's destroy freedom of speech online instead! That'll show'em. "
"if I just work hard enough, eventually I'll make it"
No. cause if you don't make it that means you didn't work hard enough. And that isn't fair to your efforts.
there are so many factors outside of your hands. So much success is luck, and failure is not always your fault. cut yourself some slack.
