In the business press
I read that “The pandemic
might be over,
but new research indicates
long Covid
is likely to reverberate
across OECD economies,
costing up to $135 billion
a year over the next decade,”
which really seems to suggest
that the pandemic
is not yet over.

90% of people who get long covid (see post below) had only seemingly mild symptoms. Everyone is at risk. It’s also airborne! We must start preventing or every wave we will have a mountain more chronically ill.

The messaging shouldn’t be ‘its no more serious than the last infection’ listen, does 🧵

After one Covid infection ➡️➡️➡️

Mimic stroke, Parkinson’s & MS patients
Two years speech & physical therapy
No longer able to teach
Registered to Brain Donor Project
Five years disabled

Needless to say……I agree with bulletin point #5.

Sharing my long Covid story isn’t about me. It’s about people like this. I don’t want you to have to experience the

Debilitating,
Life altering,
Crushing,
Heartbreak

I’ve dealt with because of one infection.
You don’t want Long Covid.

Please take my word for it.

Two years of PT and speech, I still mimic stroke, Parkinson’s & MS patients at times courtesy of Covid.
And, since after 5 years I’m not cured, I’ve registered with the Brain Donor Project in hopes of helping solve this mystery.

Follow-up article:
“People with Long Covid share warning to others over brutal symptoms…..lasting YEARS”

Protect yourself. 😷💉

And if you do get sick, test yourself. It’s possible that one infection ➡️ disabled. And you’ll need proof.

Ask me how I know. 📖

My aunt, the doctor,
told me a new joke.
She asked:

Why do they call
the BA.3.2. Covid variant
“Cicada”?

I said I did not know.
So she replied:

Because being in
this pandemic’s 7th year
makes you want to go outside
and scream.

And then, neither of us laughed.

My covid infection that caused me to be disabled by long COVID happened prior to vaccination.

A screen shot from FB of the Today Show page with a headline: the heavily mutated new BA.3.2 covid variant, a.k.a. “cicada “is spreading in the least 25 United States the CDC said what to know about it spread and symptoms.
Featuring a woman walking wearing a mask.
Under I include the reactions in the screenshot. 1.3K laughing, 137 thumbs up, 45 sad, 33 wow, and the angry face is cut off.

Of the 1.6K reactions, 1.3K are laughing? I’d like to think it was because of the name “Cicada” but my gut says it’s not.

An example why Long Covid Awareness is necessary.

One infection = 5 years disabled.

“But keeping …. a healthy respect for the powers of viruses circulating among us isn’t a bad idea.”

Yes. Please.

“They might affect us in more lasting ways than a few days of lethargy and snot.”

And in Long Covid’s case it’s five years of lasting.

Fascinating that Long Covid mimics neurodivergence.

Marian Schembari’s description of noise, light, touch & food sensitivities, along with the “thousand steps involved in showering and personal hygiene” has me nodding along.

Her narration of the audiobook is 👍 Highly recommend!

If you think you might have Covid, please test. If you are one of the unlucky like me who ended up with Long Covid, some clinical trials require positive test evidence.

The Reverse-LC trial for Long Covid is worth the effort if you are able.
It took me four years to be well enough to participate and it wasn’t all roses, but I’m glad I did it.

Anyone else wake up sad and exhausted after Long Covid Awareness day wondering……

How did we get here?

One infection gave us an awareness day?

Why are we still battling this?

Is this forever?
