I wish in another world, politics didn't exist in sports. I feel like it took away the main purpose and now it's filled with drama. Political pressure is real #governmentandsports#banpoliticsinsport

I think the best way to fund all the facilities equally is by including the public and take votes, instead of following the dictatorship style by letting one person make the decisions. #governmentandsports#equalfundingforschhols#publicvoting
I remember when I was in highschool, I used to notice that sports like basketball had more funding than the dance club. This is a major issue because it gets in the way of students exploring new hobbies and having to do it on their own time, which could get very expensive. #governmentandsport
Here's an article I found that shows the increase of media coverage in women's sport. To relate back to what we talked about in class. www.forbes.com/sites/lindse...
Yes exactly. Women’s sports need to be talked about more in order to motivate and influence young girls that are trying to become professional athletes
I 100% agree. I mean people only talk about what they’re interested in so I can’t blame them. Having more female illustrators would change a lot of things in the sports industry
Honestly, to solve the male dominant media coverage issue, we need more female reporters. Maybe I should go towards that career path and make a change. Who's with me? #mediaandsport#gendersociology @kin110uofr.bsky.social
For example, couple of years ago Zero's Magazine reported that there was a gay player in the Real Madrid team, which ended up being a rumoured info. Even tho it was a negative media coverage, that's more than women being talked about online #mediaandsport @kin110uofr.bsky.social
While I was researching for my Media Analysis Assignment, I found that male soccer players get more media coverage than women players, even if the media talks about the negative side of the players. This falls into the gender sociology as well #mediaandsport#genderandsport @kin110uofr.bsky.social
In these situations, the athletes that start the violent play should be banned from participating in several games or else it would influence younger athletes in a bad way #violenceandsport @kin110uofr.bsky.social
The shawcross and Ramsey incident was heartbreaking to hear because that quick violent moment changed Aaron Ramsey's life at an early age. He could never show his true talent again the same way, while Shawcross was able to keep going until his retirement #violenceandsport @kin110uofr.bsky.social
an incident that involved Ryan Shawcross basically tackling Aaron Ramsey during a game that still haunts Arsenal fans. The abuse was so bad that Ramsey had to miss over a year of playing soccer because his leg was completely shattered #violenceandsports @kin110uofr.bsky.social
In class, we were asked why people can take creatine but not steroids. I think it's okay to take creatine because it doesn't change the body or hormones. It simply produces energy, kinda like eating lots of protein. But steroids give you unnatural muscle mass by manipulating the hormones #deviance
An example of negative deviance would be when the famous finger skater named Nancy Kerrigan was attacked with a baton by a man named Shane Stant who was hired by her rival's ex-husband, which led to Kerrigan being forced to pull out of the National Championships #deviance @kin110uofr.bsky.social

This website talks about how certain areas in Guatemala has the most food swamps due to excessive amount of corner stores and fast-food places, especially schools #sportandhealth @kin110uofr.bsky.social pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC....
The sad part about sport is society makes it hard for athletes to be vulnerable, especially when it comes to injury. Athletes often hide their injury to not be seen weak, which can lead to more harm because the longer you ignore minor injury, it becomes worse #sportandhealth @kin110uofr.bsky.social
@kin110uofr.bsky.social Apollo Hess is a Canadian Indigenous swimmer in Canada. He is a 23 year old who was born in Lethbridge, Alberta. He is very special to our community because he was the first athlete from his nation to compete at the Olympics. #raceandethnicity
@kin110uofr.bsky.social Balancing your life is already hard. so, I made sure to pick a career that involves physical activities so I could kill two bird with one stone and marge my life into one. I also want to create healthy habits for my future children to grow into #recreation
@kin110uofr.bsky.social I plan on becoming a recreational therapist because I've always believed in a healthy lifestyle. I would love to encourage other people to see the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. In order for me to do that, I have visually motivate people with my own life choices.
ehrlo.com/sport-venture/ This non-profit organization focuses on youth having fun playing basketball rather than being in a competition. It allows everyone to join, regardless of their background or other things that might get in the way of participation. #youthsport @kin110uofr.bsky.social
In my opinion, fun AND skill development both are important in youth sport. If kids are having fun, they'll be more eager to be competitive. Being competitive will help kids develop skills for the game they're participating in and in real life applications. @kin110uofr.bsky.social #youthsport
I think the world needs to focus more on the feminist theory. I often have interactions with people where we talk about our favourite sport teams. When I mention that I like LA Sparks, I get made fun of because “nobody watches WNBA”. Which is not true at all. @kin110uofr.bsky.social
Week 2: In class, it was mentioned that functional theory is the most common and useful theory. Other than this one, I believe interactionist theory is a good one. It’s important for every individual to do their part for the betterment of their society. #interactionisttheory @kin110uofr.bsky.social
womeninsport.org/sexism-in-sp... This is a article that discusses the barriers women and girls face in sport due to sexism and misogyny. Similar to what we talked about in class under feminist theory. #feministtheory#needschange @kin110uofr.bsky.social
