If you're coming to @londongamesfest.bsky.social New Game Plus tomorrow or Friday, you'll find us in the Official Selection area.

Editing a systems-driven narrative game
Build your core gameplay framework like this:
- Entity actions
- Buffs/debuffs
- Attribute set / property bag
- Tags
- Support inheritance
- Data-driven, designer-driven workflow
With that your team can build almost any game without collapsing under complexity: platformers, RPGs, 1v1 fighters...
A very stocky Exmoor Horn ram.
Happy 8th anniversary to the tweet that changed us forever. Look at this absolute unit.
We are now in a bundle with a spunky little game The Roottrees are Dead. The Roottrees devs are just terrific and I really hope they can do something with this charming little number.

Fond memories of the first enemies in Sunless Skies being a gray box with googly eyes and "enemy" written on it.
Said placeholder ended up being used for pretty much every test. The parallax system? Started as a stack of googly eye boxes fading into the mist of the high wilderness.
We're able to do a lot with a small team on Dosa Divas with the help of a bunch of custom tools like our TestRun tool built by Justin our lead programmer. The tool will autoplay through the game at a faster speed to check for any obvious bugs using Unity's built in Navmesh agent.
The Ratline is a wonderfully atmospheric and twisty sleuth-em-up that deserves a wide audience (as do all of Owlskip's games, honestly); if you've been wondering what to play next after TR-49, it's this.
i like to think i lead a complex emotional life but then the sun comes out and i am happy. i am functionally no different from a big leaf ! 🌱
So happy for all you big leaves out there today.
being a billionaire would actually be awesome. because think about it: you could go to the nicest restaurants, travel the world, and buy as many sports cars as you wanted. buy them with what? your billions of dollars. exactly. more people need to understand the power of money
Just all around great work for Cairn's tech and art team (and the Tech Art Director) - especially considering a wild set of gameplay-imposed constraints.

Ghost of yotei was big on cutting to the point where they would have weekly cuts. Folks would get up and say here is what I cut this week and everyone would clap for them.
Jason Connell said it was successful bc people like to be clapped for lol valid af
musician Gary Numan, born March 8, 1958, aged 68
actor Gary Oldman, born March 21, 1958, aged 67
Happy Gary Retrograde everyone!
The next two weeks are the only two weeks out of the year when Gary Numan is older than Gary Oldman
The Adventure Game Aptitude Test is the first of its kind, and the initial results are incredible. Only two people beat a three hour game without help

A wistful #WishlistWednesday.
Mandrake is a rural life sim, and our first game to feature actual weather.
This helpful plan shows you when you can catch us demoing Mandrake at New Game Plus. You only need a New Game Plus ticket to come see it!

new blog post about: makin' it easier to integrate elaborate (or not) contextual character animation stuff into gameplay in @sleightofhand.game. Like all the best shit, this is not so much technically impressive as workflowily excellent.

For your reassurance, here's the Fallen London AI Transparency Statement and the portion of the Steam page which states that we're making Mandrake by hand.
We don't use generative AI. <3
A beautiful woodland on a sunny day in our game Mandrake, and some social media person has put a big thing on top that says THANK YOU FOR 100,000 WISHLISTS.
Mandrake has just passed 100,000 wishlists. That feels significant.
Recently we also passed 100,000 lines of code.
What could it mean?
(Thank you!)
A round, light brown tablet made of clay with three lines of cuneiform scripts. Two rulings, or traced straight lines, enclose the writing. The photo also shows the sides of the tablet, including a few damaged parts.
May as well dive right in.
Did you know that dogs in ancient Mesopotamia also refused to drop the ball?
According to a Sumerian proverb, “The dog understands ‘Take it!’ It does not understand ‘Put it down!’”

A new website about PC games, from me, @brendyc.bsky.social and @jonhicks.com.
Reader-supported, which means no ads, no guff, and lots of games blogging about delightful things to play. If you liked our work on RPS, we think you'll like @jank.cool.
That's a good-looking deck. The very best of luck with the pitch!
Well, I'd like to see ol' Inkle release a banger THIS time!
* Inkle effortlessly release a banger
Ah! Well. Nevertheless,
Have you seen... this before? 🤘
