I find it regretful that people (journalists, esp.) have stopped asking Trump and his administration this question. They continue to get away with just ignoring and evading questions and making stuff up, while "we" eventually just move on.

I think at the core, this is Trumps driving motivation. He wants to be seen and treated as Putin or Kim Yong-un are. It doesn't matter if it's fake. Trump's suspension of disbelief is so great, he believes wrestling is real.
