It was so fun to sell coffees!! At the end of the event I didn't want to leave 😭

I genuinely expected it to be a very humbling experience, but everything ended up working really well and I achieved my goal of covering my costs, including costs for potential future events (since I got extra stock)

I've spent the past few years making web games and it's still somewhat possible to get people to care about your game if you find unsaturated niches. Still, It's just not to the scale of what it used to be when there used to be far fewer games, especially on Steam

It's so sad that we both live in an employer's market AND an investor's market.

People with skills are desperate for a job and people with jobs are desparate for investments, so it keeps pushing power up the chain, in the hands of the very people destroying this industry.

Idk how we can fix this.

It's kind of insane to me how cold the market has gotten. I can count on a single hand the friends of mine who managed to get funding in the past 2 years, and even then it's often ridiculously small amounts.

So many talented people and it feels like we all have to fight for peanuts.

Next week the Fighting Game Jam is starting and I plan on participating with some mostly solo-deving.

Yeah I feel like you are really good at burst creativity. You have a style that works really well, you come up with efficient enough ideas that you can then execute on without having any part that requires really long iteration times I feel.

I don't think I can do that as well as you :/

The more I think about it the more I realise my skills as a game dev would shine so much more if I had the money to focus on one single thing for like 3 years.

All of my projects have had a lifespan of more or less 6 months so far, so I have to cut sooooo many corners.
