Lights do more than the camera. If you have good lighting setup, you can get away with using just good webcams (logitech c920) instead of a high end camcorders. Sound is much more essential than video because it is the most likely point of failure, but I'm still looking for the optimal setup myself.

Yes. But for the economic model to propagate outside that took time. Open source licensing as an exploitable ecosystem is not something that has always been there.

"Always" Is not the correct scale - open licenses have been around for a relatively short time and the ecosystems took a while to stabilize themselves for the economies to form and for the money-grabbers to truly emerge.

Looking deeper into Obsidian because of my "let's use Obsidian as a RAG source" project... and I just created a new Vault for my daily tasks and project management. And installed quite a lot of plugins to make it shiny.

The result is "Aesthetic Gentrification." We get things like Duck Borg—where the visual language of the underground is stripped of its danger and sold as a safe product line.
