No one should be creating partnerships with HP at this point given the ways JK Rowling is spending her money to actively harm our trans friends.
Hopefully Avalon Hill, a game studio within Hasbro, will steer free of this nonsense. I'll reach out to them and put in my 2 cents.

Rascal has done great work covering the ongoing issues of Upper Deck and the their use of the Harry Potter license.
Let these offenses be a warning to other game and game product creators:
Transphobia and hate are by no means whatsoever welcome in our space! 🙌
The article on @blockcollectives.bsky.social and Upper Deck has dropped on Rascal!!
Go check it out, and spread the word to others who may not know about these issues!!
If you or someone you know is knowledgeable about the trading card market (as opposed to TCGs) and would like to help slow JKR's oppression of trans people, I would love to introduce you or them to the @blockcollectives.bsky.social group to talk about Upper Deck's Potter trading cards. LMK!
11 days since Upper Deck made their ~nothing~ response taking ZERO accountability for their actions against the trans community.
We’re watching @upperdeckent.bsky.social
Your refusal to respond to us, blocking and deleting all discourse around you, doesn’t absolve you of the problems you created.
Thank you for your support! 💪
Glad to have you guys on our side ❤️
Shelf Stable is neither covering nor purchasing Upper Deck products moving forward until they roll back the HP license or commit to not using it at all.
@upperdeckent.bsky.social we would appreciate more visibility & communication.
Follow Marceline and @blockcollectives.bsky.social to stay up to date on the pressure campaign against Upper Deck. Keep transphobia out of the board gaming hobby!
“At this time”
Precisely the problem. You can and likely will in the future. WE DON’T WANT THIS.
And this isn’t *just* about concerns of a game coming out from you. Please cancel *any and all products* that use JKR’s blood money.
We are calling for an immediate stop to all purchases from Upper Deck.
Their total lack of communication is distressing—so we call upon everyone to help us escalate.
No purchases from Upper Deck. No media coverage or posts of their games.
Upper Deck will only respond when it hurts their wallets.
We will remember and support those who speak up now.
If you are a larger member of our community, your voice alone can help influence and inspire so many.
Please speak up, and help us make our space worthy of being shared with others.
Thank you so much for raising a flag to our collective action!
Thank you @ttgda.bsky.social for supporting our Block on Upper Deck’s use of the Harry Potter IP.
It’s urgent that we speak up and act now *before* we run into more issues that negatively impact our community of designers, players, and media folks.
Silence is equal to acquiescence.
Upper Deck has announced that they have acquired the Harry Potter license for a series of trading cards. They have not yet said that they will be using this license for games, and we urge them to refrain from doing so, to help keep gaming a welcoming environment.
The IP in question is and should be treated as toxic, no matter what.
Its creator's psyhotic descent into unmitigated trans-hate has poisened that well for the rest of her life at least.
Don't support any product or publisher that tries to profit of it, and thereby finance trans-hate.
Agreed! Keep sharing to have an impact!
Upper Deck can get bent. There is no reason in 2026 to go anywhere near the wizard shit license. You cannot claim ignorance. You cannot be silent.
Regardless of what happens with this game, supporting a boycott based on a game's IP is supporting a long term vision for the hobby/industry.
Upper Deck has historically followed up an IP trading card product with a new edition of Legendary with that IP.
Just look at the upcoming DC Legendary and its pipeline as proof of that.
We *must urgently* act now or else be faced with even larger issues that can’t be undone in the future.
It’s vitally important that we act now *before* they announce more game products, especially those as prevalent in the Legendary line.
So far they have announced a new trading card product as their *first* set of products—which strongly tells us that there will be more.
We’ve also reached out to the creator and active designer of the Legendary (Marvel, Alien, etc) game series Devin Low for comment and support. Still awaiting response.
This is the series most well-known to boardgamers, so it is hugely important to prevent the release of a Harry Potter edition.
If you have LinkedIn, we found the President of Upper Deck. If anyone can help by sharing his email contact with us, that would be far more effective for escalation.

YIKES.
Upper Deck (Marvel Legendary) just announced a CCG using the Harry Potter license.
Fans of UD are rallying against this decision. Like the CGE situation last year, I’m asking for your help.
