How about instead of trying to police the world, you fix your sh*t at home, America?

Thank you, Wendy. It’s the worst thing about giving your heart to a pet. But how can we regret all the amazing moments and love they give us?

Sending you and Brody all the best.

I know how hard it is. Our 18-yo kitty has been diagnosed with cancer. She’s given us so much joy. It’s hard to let go, but just as hard if not harder to see her struggling.

#MustRead #EM news, analysis, & much-needed snark from Dr @samlmontano.bsky.social.

Reading Dr. Sam’s newsletter is the only time I feel remotely reassured that I’m not going crazy when I read emergency management-related news.

I can get behind that, as a Californian. However, given what we know about the hollowed-out state of our federal partners, could we put off the disaster as long as possible?

FEMA Official Defends Cuts to Disaster-Response Staff at Agency The Trump administration has made sweeping cuts to CORE employees, who often play a key role in responding to disasters across the country.

Rest of Rep Underwood’s comment to #KarenEvans:

“And so while #disasters are becoming more frequent and more severe, you’re cutting staff at #FEMA, creating confusion and operating without a plan. This will put lives and livelihoods at risk in the next emergency.” www.notus.org/trump-white-...

At least Rep. Lauren Underwood seems to get it. She told Evans:

“Trump was clear he wanted to destroy #FEMA, so you gave him some made-up concepts of a plan on how to do it…That’s not trimming the fat. That’s a death blow.” www.notus.org/trump-white-...

#KarenEvans continues to defend #FEMA cuts and vacancies. At a Congressional hearing on 4/16/26, she said she has “approved the final nonrenewal” of employees “based on function and whether the work is still there for them to do.”

POLITICO: "California judge restricts offshore oil company despite Trump administration intervention"

Donald Trump and Big Oil's illegal ploy to restart the Sable oil pipeline in Santa Barbara County was just REJECTED.

Launching a reckless war with Iran and creating a global oil crisis doesn't suddenly allow these guys to break the law.

I enjoyed my time in green and every opportunity I had to work with them after I left the outfit. Such a gut punch to see the USFS needlessly destroyed like this. It also increases my worry that the new Wildland Fire Service is just going to be a privatization effort.

RESULT: Analilia Mejia is heading to Congress.

The AP has promptly called the NJ11 election for Mejia, the left-wing advocate who won a tight primary earlier this year and just easily won the general election. Mejia will replace Mikie Sherrill, who of course is now governor.
