Trying to explain St Augustine to the pope, the former head of the Augustinian order, who wrote his doctoral thesis on Augustine, on his way back from celebrating mass at the Basilica of St Augustine in Annaba, Algeria, overlooking the site where Augustine lived is peak Adult Catholic Convert.

I saw someone observe the other day how ironic it is that, for some who plainly loathed Johnson, it's he who Starmer's come to most resemble as a PM.
My folks are both long gone now, but I still miss them enormously. I remember experiencing similar kinds of feelings to yours, and thinking if it would never end. In time it became less painful and easier to deal with. It may take a while, I can't lie, but it won't always be like this.
Dolphy's solo on this is unreal. And what an incredible bunch of musicians.
Nathalie Baye has merged with the infinite. I once took a date to see Sauve qui peut (la vie), because that's the kind of earnest little herbert I was in them days. No second date was forthcoming. www.bbc.com/news/article...
With the caveat that I've been lapsed for my entire adult life, I'm still enough of a left-footer that I'd take any so-called "Catholic" who was pleading divided loyalties in Leo v Trump by the hand and explain, calmly & quietly, as if to a small child, that perhaps Catholicism isn't for them.
A proposition; all the world's nepo babies get a lifetime pass in exchange for the joyless cunt Coren's head on a stick. Deal?

#Kraftwerk have lost a decades-long copyright dispute with producer Moses Pelham over a two-second drum loop from the group’s 1977 track ‘Metall auf Metall’, which Pelham sampled for Sabrina Setlur’s 1997 single ‘Nur mir’ without permission

We all have days like this
this race-bending the new musketeers thing is taking it way too far, next they'll be claiming Dumas was black or something
SOOOORRRY it's been delayed, but worth the wait and then some - gods, monsters, Dick, Crowley, free jazz, refuting taste, the over-artist, Morrissey's relish and so much more. @reversediorama.bsky.social @memorialdevice.bsky.social
MORE HISTORY, MORE MUSIC, MORE STORIES - plus “Someone gun-fingered me in my nose!”
This is well worth your time, and the album 'Mali' even more so. So why not dive into both at once and get the full immersion experience?

An all-time fave.
Ah, it wasn't just me, then.
I think Zsa Zsa turned up in The Beverly Hillbillies a couple of times.

I read a interview with Ian Dury, where he was asked what piece of advice he'd offer to young musicians. His answer was; make sure you've written your second album before you release the first one.
This is not to say that Keanu isn't capable within his limitations, just that those limitations are considerable.
"Bad actor" takes that begin from anywhere but Keanu Reeves (who may well be one of humanity's very best, but who also has the dramatic range of a standard lamp) are not to be trusted.
Any excuse to post the classic clip of Q-Tip needledropping on "Chicken Heads" by Bobby Rush and staying on beat the entire time, to the amazement of Kanye and No ID. www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nQr...
I only learned quite recently that the other half of Art Of Origin was Kerri Chandler, who went on to do pretty well producing and DJ'ing house music and is still active on that scene.
Obviously I knew the AI Overview result to be false and skip them as a general rule, but extremely bad to know that people purposefully seeking out news articles in an age where every online tool seems to be fighting journalism could be told the very thing they're looking for doesn't exist
Google's AI Overview told me I hadn't written an article for the New York Times about the Southport attack, claiming: "There is no information in the search results about her writing about Southport"
But the first search result was the article I'd written for the NYT about the Southport attack
The sheer market thirst for ‘this is not the stupidest timeline ever’ is quite something.
