I still don’t understand why Twitter got rid of this background color as an option

I don’t think how physically attractive any particular person is is something there needs to be any kind of consensus on, and it seems like feeing this way puts me in the minority
Starting to seem like the whole "the president can only be stopped by his best friends who benefit from him" idea might have been a mistake by the founders tbh
the guy in the hot dog costume from “I Think You Should Leave”
every single liberal right now going “i told you so”
This continues to be one of the most astute things I’ve ever read on social media
p.s. In case it's not abundantly clear, #ElonMusk is employing children directly out of high school because they have no preconcieved notions of professional ethics or even appropriate pay for the work they're doing. It's just a fun internship; when it blows up, he can claim government doesn't work!
Your subtle insult has totally convinced me to be more like the way you wish I was, because that’s definitely how that works
Backhanded insults framed as just “stating facts”
Insufferable moralizing scolds
An economy more preoccupied with making sure more people are getting around to a second helping than making sure everyone got a first serving is morally bankrupt.
I mean this generally true but it’s worth noting hating Mangione is the whitest thing one can do, statistically speaking
I have no idea how anyone handles having thousands of followers. Even at a few hundred you can get people building you up in their own mind to something you’re not then deciding they hate you when they realize you aren’t as perfectly aligned with their beliefs as they imagined you to be
And the rate at which it currently is growing is clearly too slow
I don’t think purists are “killing” the left, but I do think they hinder the rate at which the left is capable of growing
Thank goodness the shooter has incoherent enough politics that I can confidently say I’m morally superior to him, my single most important reason for being on social media at all
Like maybe always assuming bad intentions ends up shielding you from at least as many good intentions as bad ones, if not far more. Maybe thinking “it only takes one” can go too far and can lead you to prefer near isolation too often
I have often tended to default to judgment and condemnation then work my way backward from there only after someone had proven they were more acceptable than I had assumed, and I’m starting to think that’s not a good way to be
The SA forums proved that reserving the right to ban terrible accounts whenever you feel like it is essential to running an online community. Bigoted provacateur dipshits thrive on being shitty little rules lawyers and if you strictly adhere to the letter of the law they will always weaponize it.
I think this is broadly true and I’m posting the screencap here to test and see if a certain kind of reply to this I’m tired of seeing is as hard to avoid here as it is over there
I would so rather hear what Matt Christman has to say about almost any political issue you can think of than I would a clear majority of the people I follow on twitter
The constant mathematical conundrum that is most people thinking themselves to not be stupid while also thinking most other people are stupid
It's funny how quickly the right wing mask falls off on the whole "keep politics out of sports" charade the second it's their own knuckledraggers doing it.
fascist losers on twitter: "if you don't like free speech on here that much, you can all leave!! fuck you losers!!"
leftists and normies: *leave*
fascist losers: "no haha don't leave we were just playing. fuck you for going to blue sky tho!! we're coming over there too now!!"
Which brings me back to my original comment. Alienating all these left people, refusing to deal with them in any way, and you’re instead going to work with… who? The apolitical masses are all waiting to side with you? Really? *All* of them?
And when I say “some bullshit,” I don’t mean something of consequence, I mean some fucking disagreement on social media over something that does *not* matter in a big picture way at all
Like come on, in a world where so relatively few people in the US are genuinely left wing, and you’re going to be fine with alienating those who are over some bullshit, over & over? Like how tf do we get it together with that going on?
I think some people overestimate what % of apolitical people can not only be convinced to take an interest in politics but at the same time could also be convinced to be nearly ideal examples of left wing values
Like if *my* politics are insufficiently left wing for you to deem worthy of feeling any level of comradeship or anything like that with, do you know how hopeless it makes the entire endeavor of left wing politics appear to be?
