I feel like anyone who has ever called Crash of the Titans a boring and mindless button-masher should owe an apology to it compared to what Spyro shat around the same time.

If I were to recommend someone who had the morbid curiosity to see what this part of Spyro's history was like how they should go about it, I would tell them to just watch the cutscene compilations of the first two games on YouTube then jump straight to playing DotD.

As someone who played that trilogy recently, Dawn of the Dragon imo is the one entry gameplay-wise that isn't an utter snooze like ANB nor hair-tearingly frustrating like TEN even if the story is at its worst.

The content of both games could've been boiled down to one big promotional browser game you could've played for free, and I feel it would've been much more warmly received in this context.
