I absolutely believe that. Better hide under more clothing —then women will finally be taken seriously! 😒 People really have so much audacity when it comes to making comments about women just trying to do their jobs.

Recently I was talking to a publisher about turning my dissertation into a book and I was told that I need to not delay revisions because “when you have children they’ll take up a lot of your time.” I’m not having children… I wonder if any male academic has been told this before #academicbluesky

Kudos to @jmweigel.bsky.social for the conversation about parallels to Roman imperial portraiture.

“Why are they depicting an 80 year old as super buff?”

I can't emphasize enough that the most important thing journalists can do right now is publish exactly this kind of article

I’m going to show this to people who think the Egyptians, Mayans, and Khmer all had pyramids because of aliens.

Posting late, but the turnout of tens of thousands in London was heartening ✊. Continued mass protests around the world show that we refuse to back down from speaking out against genocide. I was moved by the large Jewish community and their words for peace and their demand: Never Again, for Anybody.

While we're all here, here's a reminder that the Women in Classics list exists. If you want to follow many AMAZING women, check it out!

And! Let me know if you fit the criteria (women and classics very broadly!) and I'll add you! #ClassicsBluesky

Ah, thank you!! I will check this out. And I am always interested in materiality. When I start digging in to things more thoroughly I will definitely reach out about the figurines you’re working with. Appreciate this.

Currently thinking about ancient witchcraft, spinsters, professional mourners, and economic autonomy of women for a future article. If anyone has any reading recs on the intersection of any these things (especially more modern ethnography), please send my way! 🧙✨

‘Flatly authoritarian’: New video shows masked agents arresting Tufts student YouTube video by MSNBC

"A terrified young student, snatched off the street by a masked police force taken thousands of miles across the country without anyone knowing. It is as flatly authoritarian as anything we have ever seen in this country," says Chris Hayes on Tufts student Rumeysa Ozturk's detention.

There are cat beds all over this apartment, but if the cats say this decorative basket is a bed, it’s a bed.
