The magic of solar is this: It will pay the electricity bill in part if not all of the cost of running an air source heat pump.
I've just had a heat pump installed and with an indoor temperature of 20C, the pump uses no more than 2kW of power.
Plenty of hot water aswell.

I use the Ivie app on my phone + the monitor in the hall.
This Arotherm+ is rated at 5kW but I've yet to see it use more than 2kW.
The house is plenty warm enough. Remarkable. 🤯

Remarkably, despite how bad this story is, the trend seems to be towards worse not better. And neither of the cited responses to these findings, from Shabana Mahmood's department or the National Police Chiefs’ Council, even pretends to address the issue of racism.
This "relatively small step" comes with relatively small benefits. Imagine the scale of the benefits if the UK went further & faster.
