I finished Blood on Her Tongue on my metro ride this morning. This was a captivating gothic novel with an interesting take on vampires & what it means to be sisters. It also does a fantastic job at touching on mental illness & how it was viewed in 1887 while still being tactful #booksky

I think it’ll be a great serotonin boost lol

I’m heavily considering doing a reread of all my favorite classic gothic novels. I haven’t read them in a long time so I’m very overdue #booksky

Let’s try something a little more Gothic next. Blood on Her Tongue by @johannavanveen.bsky.social has been on my TBR for a long time.

I haven’t read his other books so maybe that’ll help me not have extra expectations for this book

I haven’t read anything by him before so I don’t have a point of reference to go off of about his work in general

Okay I devoured Hemlock and Silver in one setting. T Kingfisher has such an incredible way of doing dark fairy tales that are just creepy enough without towing into “edge lord” territory. Plus a FMC over the age of 30 that isn’t written like she’s ancient. #booksky

I haven’t read anything or been on this app in 3 months. I’ve just kind of been in survival mode and escapism into books just wasn’t in the cards. I’m hoping since I’m taking a couple weeks off of work, I can get back to my old self and be inspired to read again #booksky

Thankfully I left that career path behind so it’s been a lovely distraction from my professional stress

I just got off in May after over a year of waiting! Slowly but surely it’ll happen

I’m really glad it kept the UK cover because I prefer it to the US edition
