Realized that Delany’s Nova is a literalization of this line of dialogue from Moby Dick. Fun considering his whole “SF as literalization” thing.
watching that Neighbors show on HBO and one of the ladies on it is a Starseed, and in one shot of her living room, she has a magic 8 ball on her coffee table. Really love the implications here.
