In the age of AI slop and devaluation of art in general, it made me reflect on the future of the mainstream western culture and the commodification of art as a 'product' rather than as a medium for communication from the artist to the viewer.

I went to a talk about the Haida nation and how they reclaimed art after a century of being banned from building totem poles, making Indigenous art, and performing traditional celebrations. There was a discussion about what art means to a culture. How art communicates ideas from artist to viewer.
