My favorite thing to track each year in the WNBA Draft:
Pick 1 announced: 4:13
Pick 15 announced: 5:26
Pick 16 announced: 5:33
Pick 30 announced: 6:06
Pick 31 announced: 6:09
Pick 45 announced: 6:26
The end of the draft moves quickly so the Valkyries are already back for their third round pick. They chose Kokoro Tanaka, a point guard from Japan. She does not have that many high-level club minutes under her belt, but she has been extremely impressive in her last two national team tournaments.
The Valkyries make their original second round pick now, choosing Ashlon Jackson from Duke. She has a reputation as a shooter, but was also a key part of a very effective defensive scheme in college.
An in-draft trade? Highly unexpected, but the Valkyries have traded for Marta Suarez, who spent part of her college career at Cal.
The Valkyries select Flau'jae Johnson with the 8th pick of the WNBA Draft. There was some belief that she would not be available by the time that they could pick. She will add to the team's defense on the wing and opportunistic scoring.
After a quiet first day, the Valkyries made lots of moves on the second day of free agent. Read about returnees, newcomers, and moves involving former Golden State players here: valhalla.basketball/blog/2026/04...

Maybe this should wait until Juste plays a game, but do the Saballys now have a case against the league that they would not have gone the college route if they knew that the WNBA would be willing to violate completely unambiguous language in its own CBA to let one player enter the league early?
