My insta is shockingly serving ads like, “Too fat for a wedding dress? Pop these pills.”
Forget the ethics, but how is this legal? Who’s regulating these easily available drugs that trick your metabolism? Got ZERO issues with safe weight loss solutions obviously. But surely, one needs a doctor?

You are so damn right about the pass he got thanks to Denzel Washington at his best (as well as Ethan Hawke, me thinks).
The other day, I went to Amazon Prime to watch a film. The platform said I could watch it with a Paramount+ add-on. “Ha, I have Paramount+ so I’ll just go there,” I thought. But then Paramount+ informed me my account needs a Showtime add on for that film. It’s all a big headache.
♥️ Physical media ♥️
It’s still winter in New York. Yay. 🤗
Okay, this has been fun, but I’m never doing it again because I don’t have the strength of character to turn my back on it or even mute the thread (for me).
Life lessons, y’know?
Every time a man kills his family I am reminded how little this country cares about children. Not here, and certainly not overseas, where we're bombing schools or supporting other regimes that also bomb schools and traumatize while generations en masse
Editors, colleagues, friends! I’ll be in Cannes 5/11-21. See you there! x
I love Charlize Theron.
Love to Charlize Theron.
There are many reasons I limit replies, but “You’re expressing your heartfelt feelings wrong” is definitely a top one
Can you not read?
If you try to explain to me something, ANYTHING that I obviously know (even if your intention is vaguely agreeing with me), I’ll block you. You’re a social media vermin. And possibly, a real-life loser.
(“As American as apple pie?” God, at least avoid extreme cliches.)
A neighborhood restaurant I’m going to have dinner at with a few friends has an AI phone assistant. A local plumber whom I want to hire for a boiler issue has an AI phone assistant. I don’t know why we made every facet of everyday life so utterly hostile for normal humans.
Another day in hell. 8 children murdered in a mass shooting in Louisiana. It’s sometimes impossible to love this country.
You see, “This might interfere with your work and jeopardize a patient’s life” and “People with disabilities can’t work” are two completely different statements, with completely different intentions and consequences. The latter isn’t something he even suggested.
Dr. Robby, firmly: “You need to disclose your condition. What happens if you have a seizure in the midst of a critical treatment?”
Internet: “Mean Dr. Robby. Why does he think people with disabilities can’t work?”
Internet is great at hearing & responding to things someone did not say. 🤦🏻♀️
I adored Chandler Levack’s MILE END KICKS, a movie that refreshingly gets (and oh my, doesn’t detest) arts journalism/criticism. (Women journo, see it!!!) With this & Bob Trevino Likes It, I’m a bit obsessed with Barbie Ferreira these days. My review: www.rogerebert.com/reviews/mile...
I don’t even like calling them special characters lol. They are just normal characters in their own alphabets. And the alphabet used in America/other English-speaking countries can’t be the default when the subject is a name, of a person or a place.
My one small act of rebellion this week was using Akın instead of Akin. In our alphabet, I/ı and İ/i are *completely* different letters & make *completely* different sounds. If the names Hüller and Timothée can get their special characters properly spelled in press, Akın should too.
How does a girl buy pants these days if her legs aren’t shaped like parentheses? 🤔
It’s extremely rare for me to respond to celebrity instas, but when Reese Witherspoon used my most-hated pro-AI talking point (to paraphrase, it goes something like, “We can’t stop it, so we must join it”), I couldn’t help but write a little comment.
This week’s The Pitt…
I mean, THIS WEEK’S THE PITT!
THIS EPISODE… 😭😭😭😭😭😭
I loved AMRUM, a brilliant departure for its Turkish-German director, Fatih Akın. It was an immense pleasure to interview him for @FilmmakerMag — our convo checked off Bicycle Thieves, Germany Year Zero, Scarface (!!), and even Turkish legend Atıf Yılmaz. filmmakermagazine.com/133617-inter...
BLUESKY: help me with this for my own sanity. Last night at Death of a Salesman, we had the misfortune of sitting next to a woman who didn’t get off her phone & texted during much of the 1st half. Eventually, my polite husband politely asked her to get off the phone. She loudly said…1/7
Is Bluesky down? (And up and down and up and down all day??)
People don’t like to be reminded, “You are not the most important person at this venue. Your predicaments shouldn’t inconvenience other patrons.”
I am not sure what I’m going to do. But I’ll start with calling the venue today. They got us away from the abuser, but they also protected the abuser.
I think this behavior should ban her from live theater for a while & the venue should investigate. My evening nearly got ruined & I sat with bullying & emotional damages. Meanwhile phone alarms & ringing & accidental siri went off at least 5 times during the play. It’s awful out there. <THE END> 7/7
At the end, I saw her. She was allowed to stay—& worse, she probably thinks of this as a success story, that she bullied us, those nasty people, off our seats. My tickets were comps—I was invited. And I wouldn’t be after a refund regardless. What should I do? Did the venue handle this correctly? 6/7
They moved us to slightly better seats—even though I did not want to move, I agreed as my greatest fear these days is crazy/unhinged/entitled Americans & ending up in a viral video w/ one. I did tell the staff though, she should be asked to leave the theater. I was assured it was being handled. 5/7
I asked her to stop. She didn’t. Continued from our front section seats all the way to the back bar in crowded aisles. I ignored best as I could, but told her to stop again. But her insults and abuse continued. My husband quickly told the staff that she was crazy and abusive. They apologized. 4/7
We said we did have a dog. & I added, politely, I’m deeply sorry for her trouble but she should’ve stepped out. My god she got VICIOUS. She started yelling at me in the aisles: “YOU ARE NASTY WOMAN. You are the nastiest person I ever met. You have no compassion. KARMA WILL FIND YOU.” 3/7
