"British Summer Time" sounds magical but then again so did the Willy Wonka Chocolate Experience in Glasgow. ๐ถ

Oh, you must be British. As an American I was very confused for a moment. Like a lot of my countrymen I sadly sometimes forget the world exists beyond our borders.
It is very difficult to explain to people who don't understand this that this is what's happening. I get the sads, and my brain clings to what it can as a reason for the sads, even when we both know that thing isn't the reason I have the sads.
They became trench coats, I think. Wear a trench over a hoodie and you've pretty much got a cloak and cowl.
I haven't wanted to mute words yet on Bluesky, but we now have the capability in the Moderation options.
That pretty much leaves necromancy.
I guess most of what I write would be apocalyptic fiction [zombies and such] as well as soft sci-fi. "Star Trek," "Stargate," "Firefly," and similar shows have been an influence on me, as well as a lot of Bradburyian and Asimovian fiction. Jonathan Maberry's Joe Ledger series, too.
Hello and welcome! I'm fairly new myself and trying to reach outside of my X social circle to meet folks. Aspiring author here who will read most things and enjoys writing sci-fi, for the most part. I'm currently livetweeting Pride & Prejudice on X. May do that here later on with other books.
In 2006 a high school English teacher asked students to write to a famous author & ask for advice.
Kurt Vonnegut was the only one to respond.
His reply was a doozy.
That's me in the corner
That's me in the spotlight
Taking 3 hours to accurately explain my religious beliefs in order to avoid misunderstandings when the cashier simply asked me what it is I wanted for lunch
Also bleps and mlems just 'cause.
I'm putting this here now to hopefully remind me later to post some thoughts on how authors can make readers think without preaching at them [all from my itty-bitty POV, of course; your mileage may vary].
I don't have to agree with a character's point of view, but few things will get me to jump ship faster than if I start to feel like the creator is preaching at me while wearing the character's face.
Thank you, @rowanauthor.bsky.social, for finding this delightful treat. It simply could not be more perfect. I don't think I could afford it just this moment, but I would dearly love to find out how much a print of this would be for when I move and I'm looking to decorate a new apartment.
Ack! I hate this! I haven't found a really good blogging platform similar to what Wordpress used to be, but I did post my review on Substack, which...um...worked? I dunno if it would serve your purposes but it's at least user-friendly...ish?
Pretty sure it's not Him. Maybe the other guy.
They're too busy ignoring us.
I feel that. Sort of like how futuristic crates are just cubes with beveled edges. ๐
Merchant of quest items, occasionally useful knickknacks, herbs and spices, and inadvertently cursed trinkets.
One reason I very rarely--if ever--share social or political opinions on Twitter is because of the limited character count. I don't want someone isolating a tweet out of context and using it to draw attention to me for saying something I did not intend. I don't have the time or patience for that.
I wish Bluesky allowed for a longer character count. Often the ideas I want to express require more explanation than I can give in the characters allotted.
That's the stuff, right there. Flippyfloppies up, a nice soft cushion to sit on. Just need some snacks to go with it.
"Was that a new group I saw this morning?" Brother Andrew asked.
Friar William suppressed a smile as he nodded.
Andrew smirked. "You didn't tell them about Geoffrey, did you?"
"It's not every day you meet a dragon at a monastery, Brother. Best to make the most of it, don't you think?"
Hi.
Does a character have to make good choices in order to be a morally good character, or is it enough for them to simply avoid morally bad choices?
I'm not sure if y'all can see it from where you are, but the Moon is just gorgeous this morning. It's very nearly 6 AM here and she's still out there smiling on us.
I can so easily picture you surrounded by cryptids, just at ease. Queen of Nature's Discarded Children, in a way. [Which I mean *entirely* as a compliment.]
Lady of Marks, the Snow White of Cryptids.
Maybe smack it gently on the nose with a newspaper? I dunno.
Good morning, Blue. How are you today?
