I shared this in November, but it also applies to May in the classroom. At this time of year, we can all benefit from a short memory.
Stay strong, teacher friends. #EduSky

I'm super excited to announce that Seeds to Solutions, the Climate Change and Environmental Justice curriculum I've been contributing to for the past couple of years, has finally been published! Download this free curriculum for Kinder-12th grade at www.seedstosolutions.org

Not trying to be a hero with my twisted knee, but I didn't realize ahead of time that it would be a march instead of a stationary demonstration. None the less I have no regrets, it was awesome to be out there with my husband supporting #publicschools!

Taking time for myself is a real struggle but it felt so good to get on the field again after a 3 year hiatus from the #highlandgames. It hurt so gooood. 😅 But seriously, I love and appreciate my body so much when I see how strong it can be!
The misty weather is calling to these kids. They just have to walk in the rain, and I completely get it.🥰 So nice to soak up the gift of water.🩵🌧

I might cry.💙😭 It's been a really hard week but I got my first teacher appreciation gift of the year. A student knocked on my door after school and said she had a surprise for me. A 🌈sticker and croc charms 🥰 #EduSky
It's that time of year again! I know it can be controversial to incubate eggs in classrooms but with responsible methods it can be so enriching to a life science curriculum. All ducklings will come back home to our farm to join our growing flock! #EduSky #iteachscience
I'm really enjoying our Springtime Chinampa project for our #ecosystem unit. S's learned about axolotls and Lake Xochimilco and were then given timber (craft sticks) and rope (yarn) and they built their own #chinampas. The cilantro is growing in nicely and we even added goldfish to a pond! #EduSky
“The rulings block the administration, at least for now, from carrying out efforts to cut off billions of dollars that pay for teachers, counselors and academic programs in schools that serve low-income children.” www.nytimes.com/2025/04/24/u...
The Dept. of Education exists to level the playing field. Trying to abolish it and its Office for Civil Rights sends a message that the president doesn’t care about opportunity for all kids. truthout.org/articles/as-...
Happy Earth Day 🌍
In today’s atmosphere, it’s obvious why a book warning of totalitarian censorship would be in the American Library Association’s list of most commonly challenged books
RFK is not a doctor. He does not understand physiology, research methodology, or diagnostic criteria. He does not understand infectious disease and he sure as hell does not understand autism. Autistic people are not a problem to be eliminated. They are people.
Signed, an actual doctor

Bernie would understand and be happy for you! 🥳

Let's smash the stereotypes! The school library is evolving! Librarians are at the forefront, driving learning with tech & teamwork. #skybrarian #EduSky #TLSky #NationalSchoolLibrariesMonth
For the 1st time in over a decade of teaching in Southern California, we had an earthquake in the middle of the school day! A hearty 5.2 about 11 miles away from us. The best part about it was all the excitement and curiosity from every class period that followed, asking a million questions! #EduSky

A screen capture of the science article on the CBC homepage today, which features a picture of me and a title reading “prominent climate scientist argues it’s time to ditch the myth of neutrality in science.”
Was not expecting to open the main CBC page this morning and see this!
In today’s climate, I feel our message is even more relevant than even just a few months ago when the interview was recorded.

Spring Break is bringing me a welcome reprieve. The semester is pushing into the final lap and everyone is burning out but it's been a good run. Flowers are blooming, students are researching their favorite biomes, and we're getting muddy in the garden. #iteachscience #EduSky
Here's why "leave it to the states" isn't a great idea when it comes to civil rights.
All your ridiculousness about getting rid of DEI has added countless barriers! Do you folks ever think before you post?
NEW: Californians Together Executive Director Martha Hernandez talked to @taragarciam.bsky.social about the importance of new grants for expanding #bilingual education programs and meeting the California's ambitious language goals.

📚 The Department of Education is crucial for shaping a brighter future for our children and our communities! ✨ It provides essential resources, promotes equity in education, and ensures every student has the opportunity to succeed.
🌈✊️ My wheels are turning and I'm feeling recharged to serve my community! I am also deeply reassured that good people are out there leading the resistance and I'm COMPLETELY humbled to be amongst them.♀️🏳️🌈⚧️🏳️⚧️ Onward we go, back to the streets!

No cheating, post the last photo of your pet.
This shouldn't be controversial. As a teacher with similar messages in my classroom, this is a hill I will die on.
Every child deserves to feel safe, loved, and valued at school. If that differs from your "opinion" then the problem lies with you.
