Today I'm cooking up image search for our #gamedev market research platform Game Oracle. Currently you can find competitors + stats about market demand using:
- Game titles that inspire you ๐ช
- Plain english descriptions of your concept ๐
- Tags etc ๐ท๏ธ
But sooooon you can use images too ๐ธ๐ฅณ

If you're a #gamedev who loves data and wants to explore the market in depth, please checkout our tools over at Game Oracle. Version 6 w/ new tools is coming soon! We also have a free monthly newsletter where we use our tools to highlight indie innovations: www.game-oracle.com/newsletter 4/4
An interesting market segment in that bottom right quadrant is 2D Eastern fantasy (xianxia) games blending intricate management, sandbox exploration, and strategic progression mechanics. I want Game Gap to be the ultimate market exploration tool for finding opportunities in your #gamedev journey 3/4
But market saturation doesn't correlate with demand. It might be harder to stand out from the competition but players appetite for great games doesn't falter 2/4
Every point on this graph is a #steam market segment from a new clustering algorithm I'm building to power our #gamedev discover Game Gap tool over at www.game-oracle.com
The bottom right segment are clusters of games with high demand but low competition 1/4
You're a hero and a saint ๐ thank you kind sir
As a #gamedev #indiedev newbie coming from a data science background (my programming skills were forged in the harsh corporate grind) my safe space is linters, devops tools, pre-commit, CI/CD etc. Any advice on finding these sorts of comforts on my #godot journey? Should I just let go?
Hey #gamedev, who else loves a kanban board? Just me?
We can easily differentiate between "WWII flight" and "WWII infantry". No tags needed. Just a description of what you're building ๐
For the next 24 hours I will research the #gamedev market for any #indiedev using Game Oracle. Drop a one line description of your idea in the comments & I'll use our map of every game on Steam to scope out the competition for you
This is Game Oracle description search. It's the best way to research the #gamedev market. Here I'm using it to find games about making a game. So meta.
Interior design games can be more than just placing objects, like @whisperofthehouse.bsky.social by GD Studio
IKEA seemed like the most natural place to talk about House and Home Fest this week (not sponsored, we just love IKEA)

Turns out I'm not the first person to think it might be fun to fry an egg in space. Description search is awesome. Makes #gamedev market research simple 3/3
You can use description search in Game Oracle to just describe a game concept 2/3
Are you still researching the #gamedev market using tags?....pls stop. 1/3
"I'll just make a little ski slope, it shouldn't take too long"
"....Christ, I haven't even placed all the decor yet"

I heard someone say the other day that there is "nothing original on Steam anymore" which blew my mind ๐คฏ we have an entire leaderboard that proves your wrong! www.game-oracle.com/leaderboards...
When I'm not working the corporate grind as a Data Scientist or building Game Oracle I'm working on little games for the love of it (and to build up my skills for the bigger projects I'm planning). Today I'm working on my little ski game, adding a custom data layer to control player speed #gamedev
PUSH. THE. BUTTON.
We can literally ๐ SEE ๐ the #gamedev #indiedev market move man! Game Oracles map of Steam ๐ช
That is why we have description search in Game Oracle. So you can just describe what you're working on and find the most relevant games w/ plain english 2/2
User defined tags on Steam are ridiculous. If you're doing your #gamedev #indiedev market research by aggregating on tags you're being mislead 1/2
Hey #indiedev & #gamedev, have any of you played or been inspired by one of these unique best sellers? If you have, link your game in the comments below, I wanna see 'em!!!
