Huge congratulations to Dr Dickson Mauki @dicksonmauki.bsky.social who successfully defended his PhD yesterday: 'Plant functional strategies and regulating Nature's contributions to people along environmental gradients of Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania'.
The approach is fully compatible with the IPBES framework and other ecosystem service frameworks.
This generates a metric that quantitatively represents the overall balance of ecosystem benefits and detriments to stakeholders, and thus provides a holistic view of people’s dependence on nature.
We also show how to incorporate access, and other social changes into these measures.
