I saw Sampo by Ptushko and I'd say it was fairly similar. Have a copy of Ruslan and Ludmilla to watch, which I only picked up because I remember seeing it as part of a school excursion.

Are there current writers of The Simpsons who weren't born when The Simpsons first went to air?
My studies make it clear that, in recent years, the public library has morphed into a community hub that provides all sorts of resources. It makes me proud to think of the library as a bastion of service for the public in a culture of profit. OTOH why are all these people in here! Go away! 😹
Holy. Shit. This is Reid Wiseman's video he took with his iPhone while at the moon 🌙
Hours of my one precious life spent watching university bosses at a parliamentary inquiry. Please read to make my time worthwhile 😏

I’ll have to track those down
Not once in the 80s, 90s or 00s do I recall a politician urging the public to embrace email, mobile phones, texting, two factor authentication, online banking, air fryers, or to replace all their cassette collection with a CD collection.
So forgive me if I smell a rat.
Seconded
I reckon they were testing for a social media blackout (except for X and TruthSocial) before the mid-terms.
“Netflix ruined movie theaters”
People treating the theater like their living room ruined movie theaters more than anything else in my opinion.
The Howling - the book was shite.
CAT!!! @catsparx.bsky.social
"And I would have got the role as the drug-addicted single mom if I hadn't been up against the digital ghost of a young Katherine Hepburn."

A comic from DORK called The Prisoner of Second Avenue. It references the 1975 Jack Lemon film The Prisoner of Second Ave, the cult ITV UK series The Prisoner about a government agent trapped in a place called "The Village", and the East Village section of New York City, where second avenue runs through. The prisoner refuses to cooperate with punk panhandlers on Saint Mark's Place in the village, acting indignant and shouting lines from the TV series used when he is being interrogated. It's not funny if you have to explain it this much, but there you go. Maybe it's not funny anyway.
NERD INFERNO is out April 28th from @darkhorse.com.
Every day until then I will post something from the 648-page juggernaut. Today: A short comic from DORK that most of the younger readers won't get. These things happen. Then again, some folks didn't get it back when it first ran. Be seeing you!
"Immigrants - they get the job done!"
DAMMIT - a whole film festival programmed by part of the Static Vision team?!?
I'm living in the wrong city.
Anus Taylor defining Australian values?
Like identity fraud, forgery and misappropriation of public funds (and water?)
And surely he should be the LAST politician to suggest combing through people's social media accounts...

Congratulations!
Headline reads paddington 4, escape from New York reboot in the works at studio canal
The new Paddington movie sounds badass.
I needed a good news story today and thought you might like it, too.
Cartoon by Gábor Pápai, a well-known Hungarian political cartoonist.
Stand out episode today. Particularly moving is @amyremeikis.bsky.social's ability to passionately & eloquently articulate the gut wrenching, woeful lack of Western humanity. Always refreshing, @davemilbo.bsky.social's refusal to talk bullshit is a salve in these days of drowning in it.
Watch it!
I hadn't laughed so much in ages. Fell instantly in love with Elaine May.
I love that film and it's always close to my heart because I saw it in a cinema with my father.
Grew up in Canberra and the rest of my family still live there.
Had to tell my mum (who'd heard a few and thought she might have hearing issues) that Loud Bangs were such a thing in Canberra they had their own flair on Reddit.
