Ms. Trentinella, who is an American citizen, and her husband benefit from the foreign earned income exclusion, in which the first $130,000 earned by Americans abroad (for the 2025 tax year) plus a portion of housing costs is exempt from U.S. taxation. Moreover, she pays just 1 percent in local taxes because of Georgia's beneficial tax laws for remote workers.
Oh ok so the secret ingredient is “not paying for the public goods and services you use”
By Will McCurdy Published April 19, 2026 Updated April 20, 2026 Leer en español Nino Trentinella enjoys the luxuries of an upper-middle-class life in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, where she has lived for more than two years. Ms. Trentinella, 46, who grew up in Baltimore after emigrating from Tbilisi as a child, has been working remotely as an expatriate, choosing to live a nomadic existence. She earns under $40,000 a year as a freelance educator specializing in art, mostly working with children. She has a housekeeper who comes twice a week, takes cabs almost every day and eats at local restaurants regularly. Her husband earns a variable mid-five-figure income annually.
Made it all the way to paragraph 2!
I would watch a reverse heist movie where people stole from a rich guy's hypersecuritized mansion and gave the artwork to a public university's special collections

I'm going to meet a first date at Te Matapihi.
Some good things are exactly as they should be, despite the horrors.
what I really want to emphasize is that these folks are brave and they are taking big risks to challenge their dehumanizing conditions and they need as much support from out here as we can muster.
there are now hunger strikes in at least two immigrant prisons: North Lake here in MI and Moshannon in PA.
folks inside in PA say one of their comrades vomited a nasty green and guards told them it was just a cold.
folks in MI are talking about months in prison with no idea what's happening.
I don't normally ask much of my followers but I need you all to come to my secluded mansion this evening to participate in a most delicious game

I'm constant about it because we have to ACT, yall. Hunger is an act that the occupation is doing to Gaza.
Nya & her family of seven are incredibly vulnerable: little kids, disabled folks. They only have us. Help them EAT as hunger worsens. Give/find their link here.
100%! I really do not appreciate how these stories are framed.
Photo of a toddler with curly hair sitting on a beautiful little tricycle and smiling at the camera. She is on the doorstep of a house and a short haired tabby cat looks up at her from where it stands next to her.

I never get sick of seeing photos from Delta's doggy daycare (where he goes twice a week). I feel like this one could be an album cover for some experimental music collective 😂
Delta is the one standing at the back, wearing a burgundy raincoat with a reflective stripe along it.

I love that every family has the story about Weird Uncle George who didn't like people and polished coins and loved trains obssessively but sure, autism is new.
Most Americans: I’m going to die working this job 😞
Members of Congress: I’m going to die working this job! 😃
this is a total tangent but rewatched Ferris Bueller the other day and was thinking about how it's a heist movie, they're stealing time and actually adulthood/respect/responsibility from a school/system that wastes their time and infantilizes them
Bluesky's leadership is basically Basil Fawlty: they have dreams of a higher class of customer and they are appalled that they have to put up with the riffraff that has actually shown up.
