MegaMan pumpkin smashed on a neighborhood sidewalk.
I say 'was' impressed, because MegaMan drew a bit too much attention and got stolen, almost instantly.
His would-be kidnappers gave up, else he activated a crash bomb and exploded up the block.
...Sad that I don't get to smash that pumpkin later.

A creepy smiling carved pumpkin sits on steps, staring at children that would like candy on their level. Up higher, a pumpkin with a MegaMan life sits, greeting the children's middle aged parents. It's a real something-for-everyone-house.
Our 2025 pumpkin entries. I always have a "it's ok mine isn't movie quality" stance when it comes to carving, but I'm pretty proud of my lil creepy face and was impressed with my partner's MegaMan.

A trio of partially pollinated ears of corn in front of a half-dried row of corn in the city.
Behold, my wonky ears in their misshapen glory!
I learned a few things about growing corn this year with my most important takeaway being that my neighborhood's NIMBY tendencies don't extend to my front yard garden.

Being able to eat food again after 4 months on a super restricted diet is such a wild experience. Everything is spicy. Things I've never found spicy are spicy. Chiles, sure, but paprika? What is this? I've never been so pre-sliced white bread American before and it's terrible.

I can't recall the taste of food, nor the sound of water, or the touch of grass.
I dipped out from social media for the last few months while on a personal quest to throw my gallbladder into a proverbial Mt. Doom. Like Frodo, I too forgot what food tasted like, dropped an insane amount of weight, and got mean.
Tears of Eternity: Remembrance updates coming soon!

My dad sent me a video where someone reviews stand mixers and they were complaining about the app one of them had.
Excuse me while I throw up.

Not at all. Mike Lee embodies the toxic dust beneath the Great Salt Lake. All along the Wasatch Front, we suffer from his effect on the air we breathe. Please, loathe away.

Watched Strange Darling the other day. A lot of fun with some great performances. But man, I am not a fan of stories that are told out of order to either confuse the audience or hide the twist for a smidge longer.
Not that I didn't enjoy it, I did, but I would have preferred chronological order.

Futurama still. Bender singing "I love stealin', I love takin' things."
Started Scott Lynch's The Lies of Locke Lamora. Every young Locke scene feels like me playing any Bethesda game.

A mountain reservoir surrounded by greenery and wildflowers on a sunny afternoon.
Oh heavens, we're already hitting the temperatures where I disappear to the coolness of the mountains for long stretches.
Little Dell Reservoir be looking real pretty this time of year.

An orange kitty rolls on the sidewalk beside a closed copy of Written on the Dark by Guy Gavriel Kay.
I love these sunny days when I'm able to just sit outside and...Oh. Wait. Nope. Here comes the boy.
Please note he is not my kitty, but reading outdoors does summon him.
Finished Written on the Dark. Still processing my reaction. Beautiful & bittersweet.

A jealous dog stares at a handful of ripe strawberries. She ate what she thought was ripe already and is now confused how the human found more.
The season's first strawbs and a very jealous dog.
She got three.
And ate two before I could pick them.
She's doing just fine in this strawb economy.

A copy of Joe Abercrombie's The Devils inside a church for a signing event.
There is a certain delicious irony about this Joe Abercrombie signing event that I am eating up.

Heroes Die by Matthew Woodring Stover being brushed up against by a nice orange kitty named Twinkie.
If there is a kitty within 100ft of me when I try to read, it will interrupt my progress. It's just science. This isn't even my cat.
Heroes Die is a fantastic read. This Matt Stover guy should write a political thriller space opera or something.

The bright sun hits a lush green lawn. In the shade, a glass of beer sits beside a vape pen while a copy of The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie rests atop your author's lap. It is a nice day.
After a well-earned sweat from gardening, it's important to give yourself a little treat.

Yesterday when I delivered a stack of Tears of Eternity to my local bookstore, the person behind the counter recognized me and said, "Oh, thank god you're here--now I can take my copy home!"
Oh, my heart. I assume this is what it feels like to have a cute infant.

And such a lovely bittersweet ending. I'm sad that I finished it, but glad that there is so much GGK left for me to read for the first time.

Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay is the very definition of what I mean when I say I want a book to ruin my life. I would read a passage, then close the book and stare stupidly in the distance, reliving generational trauma. Perfect way to spend a day reading.

A cat's paw swipes at an innocent hand just trying to keep a book open on a desk.
Well, I certainly thought I was allowed to read today, but Lady Maggie has a zero tolerance policy to distracted petting.
Reading update: Tigana is my first Guy Gavriel Kay experience and I am loving it so far.

5-Star Amazon Review reading, "Tears of Eternity: Foresight" is an extremely well written epic fantasy that intertwines the destinies of the four main characters. The author is a wizard himself, immersing the readers into this captivating world. The story illustrates how resilience combined with magic pays off in the end. Excellent book."
The phrase "The author is a wizard himself" is highlighted.
Underneath, Normon Osborne wears a poorly photoshopped wizard hat, saying "You know, I'm something of a wizard myself."
Does getting misgendered in reviews mean people are reading my book as Fantasy and not Romantasy? 🤔
Not that I'm complaining, I'll gladly be called a wizard any day.

We've been having the perfect weather for reading outdoors in the afternoons.
What are your thoughts on reading outside?

Both. It's both.
