I think that the idea of personal branding and marketability of art (which obviously, necessary if you are making a living) has killed a lot of personal art practice, and I think that deprives artists of a beautiful and rich life!! I think business should be separated more from personal practice!!!!
I am biased ig but I love experimentation and breadth. ofc for business purposes consistency is good, but if someone is interested in making a range of art and they get excited at the idea of sharing it that they should. whenever I have avoided that I feel disconnected from my peers and burn out

! going thrifting is always one of those things where i'm like god. there is so much stuff and people get it and don't need/want/care about it and it's still getting made and sold forever and ever and ever

yeah that's certainly part of it for me lol. being very poor and having gone through a stressful move in late 2024 rly tanked all of my good consumer energy!
