We had to cut down an old birch tree this week. A beetle at the inside of the top half of the tree. A bit of the top of the tree fall off and went through our car port roof, narrowly missing my car.

The College Affordability Crisis is Real, but the Media is Looking at the Wrong Schools Sturges Hall (Photo by Keith Walters ’11) Opinion By Costas Solomou, Vice President, Enrollment Management Published by the Office of Enrollment Management When Yale University released its Committee ...

"the colleges that dominate the headlines are not the colleges that most Americans attend

their core mission: to serve students from all backgrounds, at a price families can actually afford, prepare graduates for real careers and meaningful lives."

i don't know how often folks read it but i'm a huge fan of the "did box" at the bottom of a complex story. as in how we did it. demystifying the process is an important thing i think we can do more of.

I don't like to post political thoughts much. But I don't think this is even a political thought. If taxing homes people don't live in is one of the scariest things you've seen, I mean ... :walks away:

I read this and said out loud that's not a serious person.

The scariest thing? Taxes on homes people don't live in? In this economy??

Shocked I am disagreeing with John about something. Em dashes are a blight. I let my reporters use a few but after that I split sentences, use commas, etc

As an editor, I recommend my reporters do this. I had an editor recommend it to me when I was a reporter. I also do this as an editor.

It also catches weird flow issues

There's dozens of us! (I also assume we all think we should have careers as voice actors)

This thread is also true for journalism as well.

You forgot about the more recent Fender Meteora in this list of offset fenders. It's quite a bit of fun and likely even harder to find in the coming years since it didn't have a long production run

Artemis 2 commander Reid Wiseman broke NASA protocol to save the mission's moon mascot: 'It's hard not to love this little guy. I can't let Rise out of my sight' "I stuffed that little guy in a dry bag we had in our survival kit, and hooked the bag onto my pressure suit."

I genuinely love this. Astronauts, like kids, know that you do not leave your stuffies behind.

The inverse of what the Dbacks did earlier in the series. It's been a good matchup

Not for nothing but also Christianity also specifically warns about this kind of stuff.

Seems so obvious

I don't think it's ok to generalize this broadly but ....

This a sentiment I have seen expressed multiple times across a wide range of media and social media accounts.

The shift in the polls also seems to indicate people did not think mass deportation meant the people they live and work near.

i’ve tried to put my money where my mouth is and subscribe to great local news outlets. i don’t want them to simply exist. i want them to thrive. i’m going to add more to my pile soon and i really hope others will, too.

There's a dude in a camo trucker hat who sang an excellent holy diver and then a fantastic Gordon lightfoot.

A big guy in a Superman shirt and a backwards baseball cap sang can't help falling in love in this fantastic baritone.

Bartender sang Joan Jett while pouring drinks and cashing ppl out

I decided to do karaoke at this dive bar by my house and it's absolutely delightful.

There's two old guy regulars that just sing whatever. One can barely see the lyrics. The other sings badly out of tune but passionately.

There's growing disquiet in the military. The Iran war made it worse Since Trump began his second term, his administration's use of the armed forces has left a growing number in the military unsettled, according to NPR interviews with service members and advocates.

Good story by NPR.
"People are very, very confused. The suspicion or distrust of the government seems to be much higher right now," he says, noting that many are expressing concern they might be asked to carry out illegal orders or be complicit in war crimes.

She's right, Danielle. This is delightful. You took a problematic thing and made it.... Make a kind of sense that it didn't before. You pulled a whole character out of just a few seconds of screentime.

I also loved that you only gesture/imply the granddaughter side of the dialogue.

Is this what mindfulness feels like?

My co-worker shared this with me today and I'm obsessed:

You know how some people listen to lofi music to study or while working, cause it chills them out and helps them focus?

This is like that for me and my ADHD brain.
