They last saw each other when John turned Paul away from the Dakota in spring 1977. It’s noted in volume two. Elliot often gets this date wrong when discussing the last meeting of John and Paul, but given that it was 50 years ago it’s a very easy thing to get wrong.

Taken far too young - Linda McCartney passed away on this day in 1998.
Linda is pictured here with Paul, Heather and dog Martha by Campbeltown harbour on November 8, 1968 (Linda's first visit to what became her spiritual home in Scotland).

The new Maccazine is out, and it includes my review of @mccartneylegacy.bsky.social . Happy days!
Last week we celebrated the 50th anniversary reissue of the Paul McCartney and Wings LP Venus and Mars at Beatle Fest with 2Legs hosts Andy and Tom. Listen to an hour long V&M deep dive, including a track ranking that almost broke up the McLeg band 🤯

Inspired by John Lennon's tale of seeing a UFO hover over Manhattan in August 1974, Paul McCartney wrote 'Venus and Mars.' Recounting stories of intergalactic travel, the song drew inspiration from science fiction novels by Isaac Asimov and Frank Herbert.

@mccartneylegacy.bsky.social I finally finished Vol. 2, and my main takeaway is that the story of Jimmy McCulloch is so sad: so much talent snuffed out too young in a way that’s all too common in the rock game. My other big conclusion is that I wish that the Back to the Egg lineup had lasted longer
Agreed. The half speed master and digital Dolby Atmos releases sound great, but the lack of Venus and Mars “underdubbed” is a massive disappointment. Rather than getting anything new and unique we get another copy of the record. And don’t get me started on the Japanese mock vinyl CD reissues… 🙄
Written in the summer of 1974, 'Letting Go' was originally titled "Now that she is mine." As Paul tinkered with the song the refrain was replaced with, “Oh, I feel like letting go,” and the title changed accordingly.

A few weeks ago Allan and I were guests on a wonderful Danish podcast hosted by Niels Erik Harild. You can listen to it here (it is English language):

The new 50th anniversary Dolby Atmos mix of Venus and Mars is sensational - vocal and instrumental details emerge here that have been buried for 50 years. Kudos to Giles Martin and Steve Orchard for being bold and breathing new life into these recordings.
@mccartneylegacy.bsky.social I got Volume 2 of the McCartney Legacy for Christmas, but have only just now had time to dig into it, and I have to say it’s even better than Volume 1. The level of research is astonishing, and your treatment of Paul’s solo career will never be bettered. Thank you.
Allan and I sat down with our old friend Jeff Sammut in December to discuss volume two in our book series, The McCartney Legacy. Our conversation just went live for your listening pleasure.

Volume 2 of @mccartneylegacy.bsky.social by @allankozinn.bsky.social and Adrian Sinclair is every bit as good as the first – and with a cliffhanger ending! Remarkable research written with insightful, involving commentary. @thepmcproject.bsky.social @beatlesbible.com
Just finished Vol. 2 of @mccartneylegacy.bsky.social. What a tremendously entertaining and informative read. I’m sure Sir Paul’s book on Wings will be fascinating, but Vols. 1 & 2 go into great detail on what really happened. A major addition to Beatles/Paul scholarship. Thank you Allan & Adrian.
We have no firm information on volume three yet. But we are actively working on it. ✌🏻❤️
Excited about today’s Wings book press release?
Why wait until November?

It’s a typo in our book. It spent 11 weeks in the chart peaking at No. 31.
When The McCartney Legacy Volume 1: 1969-73 was released, a number of readers contacted us as they were unconvinced that Henry McCullough actually played drums on ‘C Moon.’ This press release for Paul McCartney & Wings’ double A side (misspelling Henry’s name) confirms the story.
Just finished @mccartneylegacy.bsky.social Volume 2. An absolute triumph among Beatles literature and an incredible tour de force of research!
It maintains the very impressive high standards of Volume 1 and contains an sheer avalanche of fascinating new information.
Can't wait for Volume 3!
Very true. For some reason, I convinced myself that this was an A-Side, B-Side release in the UK, but it was indeed a double A with Paul insisting radio stations push 'Mull of Kintyre' when it was issued.
Paul McCartney wrote 'Girls' School' (the B-Side to 'Mull of Kintyre' in the UK) using the titles of pornographic movies that he found in a newspaper. Following the release of The McCartney Legacy Volume 2, we've been asked to share some of our research clippings, so here they are.
THE MCCARTNEY LEGACY VOLUME 3 REQUEST
We already have many unheard interviews with George Martin but are seeking archival interviews with Martin and Geoff Emerick relating to their work with Paul McCartney. Any format accepted: file, reel to reel, tape, CD. If you can help please drop us an email.🙏❤️
“‘Jet’ is representative of McCartney’s talent—there’s so much in it you don’t know where to start. There are abrupt changes of melody and pace which make it a very unusual single. A hit, of course.”
-Rosemary Horide, Disc
