Found used on my book crawl. Fellow Queen’s grad. Raw and forcing more self refection than I want to admit.

25!!!! Done
Oh how I loved this book - it reminded me once again why I love reading translations.
I have visited 24 of 25 participating independent bookstores in the #bostonindiebookstorecrawl - the 25th is actually @belmontbooks.bsky.social which I live close to and can visit easily. As a side note I did the whole thing using only the @mbta.com
It's so funny to me that right-wingers love to pretend to love the Middle Ages and the Crusades and all that and then complain that the Pope shouldn't get involved in politics.
Things to read while trying to understand Trump’s Americas. Self explanatory.

Glenn Gould seated at a piano on a concert stage, turned slightly toward the camera with one hand near the keys. He wears a dark suit and sits on a low chair. Behind him, members of an orchestra are visible with music stands and instruments, dressed in formal attire. The lighting is focused on Gould and the piano, leaving the background dimmer.
On this day in 1964, Glenn Gould gave his final public performance. He greatly disliked public performances, considering it a form of competition. He subsequently devoted himself to studio work. In his career, he gave less than 200 concerts, and only about 40 outside Canada.

This is so vital. AI — like the internet — benefits when we refuse to consider its materiality.
Not going to make me any faster - but enjoyed.

One of my favourite “quick read” genres is Canadian true crime - so when I found this used at Brookline Booksmith I grabbed it. The way the police get away with crimes would make for a very depressing book, were it not for the families who fought to hold them accountable.
This book is one of my all time favourites - I was just a Laurence fan-girl in high school.
The Diviners by Margaret Laurence
Published in 1974, it follows fictional novelist Morag Gunn. It was Laurence's final novel and the last in her Manawaka cycle of novels. It won the Governor General's Award for Fiction.
Most mass spectrometers still analyze molecules one or just a few at a time. Now, a new MultiQ-IT prototype from Rockefeller's Brian Chait can cool, trap, filter, and redirect over a billion ions simultaneously.

The more we hear about the transgressions of our heroes, the more I start to wonder whether the very act of seeking positions of public leadership, fame and/or notoriety implies certain character flaws
When your country disappears where do you go?
Ok my fellow CanLit fans - this is a lot of fun - though making a choice between two great books is hard!!
