Committee Deadlines - Minnesota Legislature

Minnesota has its own funnel deadlines but they're more of a sieve? Bills must have passed out of committee by 3/27/26 in both chambers or by yesterday 4/17/2026 if finance bills -- but they can be revived by the Rules Committees.

I've marked them as failed... for now

What you might have missed in Springfield at Third Reading Deadline Third Reading Deadline for the 2026 Illinois Regular Legislative session has come and gone. What does it mean for our environmental bills?

All of the Illinois anti-LGBTQ+ bills we've been tracking at @legialerts.org failed yesterday at Illinois Third Reading Deadline.

A "Funnel Deadline", bills must have passed out of committee _and_ had a third reading in their chamber of origin by that date.

Nebraska's sine die was yesterday and all four of State Sen. Kauth's anti-trans bills failed. The other three anti-LGBTQ+ bills in Nebraska also failed to pass (with one passing but the anti-LGBTQ+ portion amended away first).

On the plus side for trans kids but still cruddy for Idaho teachers, a bill extending the ages to which existing Don't Say Gay or Trans law applied was instead gutted and replaced by a teachers' union busting bill & signed into law as H 516

Public comment open on wording of Maine transgender sports referendum question The question will appear on the November ballot unless the bill is enacted by the Legislature as written.

Maine's LD 2239, a K12 trans girls sports ban and K12 trans bathroom/locker room ban will become a November ballot measure unless enacted as is next month.

It is essentially an Alliance Defending Freedom Save Women's Sports Act bill from 2020.

"“This session, we stopped every bill targeting LGBTQ Georgians, even in spite of underhanded political maneuvers deployed over the last few weeks. Thousands of Georgians from over 60 counties came together to successfully defeat every last one.

“Despite state leadership fixating on restricting LGBTQ+ rights as their core priority over the past years, we made it clear that scapegoating LGBTQ+ Georgians is not a winning political strategy. Georgians want more than culture war distractions; we deserve solutions addressing healthcare access, cost of living, and more affordable housing.

This result is a credit to every Georgian who worked tirelessly to defend our LGBTQ+ loved ones, neighbors, and friends. We believe that the tide is turning not just here in Georgia, but across the country. Georgia Equality will continue to fight to ensure that all Georgians have the right to live and thrive in the state we call home.”

Kentucky legislature failed to pass any anti-LGBTQ+ bills before breaking for the two week veto period before the legislature closes. They're effectively dead.

More Idaho bill movement. Two bills have passed both chambers & returned to their house of origin.

H516 is a don't say gay or trans bill which strikes the sentence that would allow K12 instruction on SOGIE if developmentally & age appropriate.
