Highly recommend his Blue Note Sessions and The Kennedy Experience. All his music is excellent, but they're different, as is his "new" Four Seasons.

I can't think of my top five, but there's one that sticks out: Nigel Kennedy at an intimate venue in Darlinghurst, Kell's Kitchen. Was back in 2007 or 2008. He played jazz, took requests, went to all hours, and hung out with everyone at the end.
I may have taken photos. Many photos.
Thanks for coming, mate. There weren't many people there that were friends of dad, and he would have appreciated your presence.
Photo of Gary Stark: A white man, bald on top with a huge white beard and much white hair at the side and the back of his head. He’s looking into the camera, with a smile, and smiling eyes. He is not Karl Marx.
Veteran Australian tech journalist and broadcaster Gary Stark passed away on Sunday aged 73 after a long decline in his health. @leighlo.bsky.social has put together a beautiful memorial at dad.leighlo.com.
The funeral is tomorrow, Thursday, at Rockwood. Leigh or I have the details, by DM I guess.
Dad and I didn't always have the best relationship, but saying goodbye to him is one of the most difficult things I've ever done.
I know he'd be happy knowing I strive to be a good person and a great dad. My girls make me a better person.
Started playing Minecraft with Ms 8. Have never felt more like Stan's Dad. Half expecting she won't trust me with a pick axe, let alone the Sword of a Thousand Truths.
Likely verification, sure. But I think more the point is tying a parent or guardian account to a younger account. You could theoretically use Medicare in Australia for proof given the way they're connected, though I'm not sure that's necessarily ideal.
My literal thoughts when Albo spoke.
Also "maybe come up with some actual efforts".
I've been saying this for over a year, but I'm still surprised social networks haven't forced linked kids accounts to their parents. Aside for giving parents some control, it would probably stop kids from using social seen by their parents ASAP.
Do they get an award for attending the awards? Besides the free alcohol.
Look in fairness I'm not doing much freelancing. I'm more of a layabout.
Kanno is excellent too. But GITS2 is an excellent soundtrack.
And just read the credits. Hope it's as good as the other soundtracks.
I really hope Kenji Kawai is back on soundtrack duty.
Congrats mate. Well deserved.
Didn't post last night, possibly out of shock, but @pickrau.bsky.social picked up the nod for Best Consumer Technology Media at the IT Journalism Awards last night. Deeply humbled.
Heading to the IT Journalism Awards with two types of the Jewel Elegance theme. Also a hashtag... is this thing on? *taps* #lizzies
I mean it makes sense.
Nail biting.
I now have this crazy idea of releasing headings as Christmas tree decorations and setting up a good page structure on a tree.
My kids probably wouldn’t get it.
That’s not quite what I mean. More that service pricing isn’t likely to be the same or generic for manufacturers.
I think this largely represents the message of the piece. It’s supposed to point out that petrol pricing is hefty versus say electric. Might need a tweak or two.
The price per 100km wouldn’t change, but might have to put in boxes showing cost for the weekly drone drive (technically counted in the yearly) and how much a full tank would cost. Like it’d be an extra number, and for most a guess, but it makes the case for evs.
Might need to add range to the calculator.
Yep, but that’s difficult to bundle into a calculator focused on explaining petrol increases in general against electricity. It’s not a comparison site, I just want the data to be more obvious to my readers.
I built a comparison calculator for an article this week and I’ve never wanted an ev more. www.pickr.com.au/opinion/2026...
This is making me glad I never bought one.
I decided to turn this into an article complete with a handy calculator to show potential price savings.
I don't do much car writing normally, but I might begin to change that.
Oof. I think you'll find that's very much a Future thing. Reading the minefield of ads on other tech sites was one of the things that prompted me to remove ads entirely on Pickr.
It would probably be clever policy if Labor said "the fuel prices aren't going to get any better, so let's introduce a really solid rebate for people to transition to EVs as a matter of urgency".
But what are the chances?
And it is more appreciated than you may know :)
