Yes... I want my Indiana Time back.

This is 100% correct. Anyone with half a clue how this stuff works and isn't trying to sell snake oil will tell you the same thing.

But just like everyone else, he will be dismissed because the grifting hype engine is in full swing and when he says true things like that, they lose money.

We always do. We have the technical capability to desalinate and transport all the water we need on earth and ensure that people and crops can drink all that they could want. All it takes is money. Literally. When the economic equation changes due to some other breakthrough, it will happen.

The great Tab cannot be stopped. There is a pagan practice of Shift Tab to go in reverse.

May the Great Tab complete you.

Ostensibly. :) Don't get me wrong, I love when an exec has enough functional role to contribute to direction; that's ideal but rare. For most orgs, IT works more like presidential limousine service. The exec can order it to go anywhere, but it's only going where the staff say it's going.

Yes. I'm assuming by "leaders" you're referring to execs. Execs are definitely not, on average, "leading" AI transformation. On average, there is a generic directive to "use AI", and whatever happens after that is mostly chaos... then a chatbot appears with some meaningless calculation of "savings"

Sounds like an alternate timeline. There are execs who want "AI", having no idea what that means... and then there are employees who have no idea what the execs want... and then there's IT, drowning in the noise like a kindergarden teacher at recess.

All hypos on AI are limited by what people are talking about when they use the term "AI". It means radically different things to different people. It's like offering an opinion on "humanity". It's just as valid to be positive or negative depending on the aspects one is talking about.

Have You Met Jello? Listen and make your own on Suno.

Well... clearly I was bored. I had an agent gather up comments about me from various places, fed that into Qwen and had it write a song, then put it into Suno.

I'm kinda catchy.

For a long time I did as well... but it came up a few Thanksgivings ago and I am "He Who Googles" to settle all debates at Thanksgiving. :)

Joking aside, for those who are unaware, Cracker Barrel Cheese is not related to Cracker Barrel Restaurants.

Cracker Barrel Cheese is just another Kraft brand of cheese, and has never had a cracker on the logo.

After 20 some odd years of packing gear for #DragonCon2025 , no matter how early I start, I inevitably have to pull a frantic all nighter then jump in the car at 3am. for 10 hrs.

I'm absorbing your prep positivity. ๐Ÿ‘

I've been doing DC panels for 20+ years, and every year, no matter how early I prep, right about now I feel like it's going to be a disaster. Never is, of course, but right up until I'm sitting in that chair, it's all doom.

I have lived less than a mile from a CB most of my life. I never knew there was a person in the logo. My wife had to point it out... and I was like... "hm." #potatohead #greenm&m #crackerbarrel

If you're going to #DragonCon2025 and you want to learn the basics of #filmmaking, #ai, #vfx and a bunch of other random cool shhhtuff... then drop in on our panels.

... and follow me, I need some of my D*C family in my Bluesky feed.

The "Twitter format" is not designed for thoughtful conversation.

It is designed for engagement. The response you get is more about who you are than what you say... Just like the Twitter that was.

You should hear the AI stuff coming out of suno.com. crazy

There is that... but that's been the way of things since the 808 killed the drummer. Recordings have always been an artificial thing in one way or another. Live music, and fans... that's the real thing, and so long as there are fans, there will be musicians to play for them.

It's finals week. For those who have worked at a university... And for a particularly long time as I have, you don't realize how fast and chaotic it is until the sudden silence every 16 weeks or so.

I have no idea what, specifically, you're talking about... And yet you could say it any day of the week and it would be objectively true.
