remember when we all spent a lot of time worrying that artists might sell out? Those were the days

I wrote a book a while back (quite a while), about censorship, corporate control, (virtual) murder, and the idea that stuff happening in gamespaces (from videogames to TTRPGs) is somehow less "real." You know the answer to that one. Read Chapter One at the link:

I’ve said it before and I’ll no doubt say it again. Universities are roughly 1000 years old. They predate most operating models including capitalism and have lasted for a reason. Installing insecure, helpless managers who ape business methods results in bad businesses, not good universities.
Academics of the world, do with this info what you may. Even better, uninstall it from your devices 🧪

Jake the cat
These are my bosses - Joe the Cat, self-made catnip millionaire. He's quite a guy.
This is Jake the Cat. He's gorgeous. He's one little cat who knows how to take care of himself
By the way, my name is Eddie.
I take care of both of them - which ain't easy; 'cause when they want meat, it's murder!
Love this stone in St Ives Museum
You’re welcome & my pleasure.
There’s a lovely interview with @grindrod.bsky.social over on Ailish‘s Sense of Place podcast: www.senseofplacepod.com/podcast/epis...
Cover of John Grindrod’s fantastic book Tales of the Suburbs: LGBTQ+ Lives Behind Net Curtains. A black and white image by Sunil Gupta from 1985 of a gay couple embracing each other in small kitchen fills the orange cover.
A remarkable book. A history of LGBTQ+ lives in suburbia that made me angry, sad, happy, full of regrets and hopes. I’m an elder on the fringes of a city, becoming invisible but this reminds me how important it is to be seen, wherever you live. It’s time to tell our own stories. #Booksky #LGBTQ+
This is a dance off. If you see this repost a dance or you are eliminated.
I ❤️ my CD, DVD, & vinyl collections—couldn’t be more glad to have gotten rid of the audio & video magnetic tapes though. 📼
So very glad I didn’t sell my CDs or DVDs …
#waterNSW “Jonathon Guyer, a grazier and conservationist who manages separate wetlands on his nearby property, told Guardian Australia the sudden cessation of flows by WaterNSW had resulted in the deaths of many native animals that relied on the wetlands to survive.”
“Researchers from the University of New England (UNE) have been desperately trying to help more than 300 turtles they say have been left to die in the Gwydir wetlands near Moree after WaterNSW stopped environmental flows following a complaint from a landholder.”

I have visited Lindisfarne but not walked either, so can’t promise “a good time.”
Lindisfarne? St. Oswald’s Way?
Ah, too bad—but looking forward to your next work!
Appreciated!

While I have @heykidsshop.bsky.social's attention, I don't suppose you'd consider making a full paper theatre for this would you? So we can put our wee peeps on rods & dance along with the music?
Possibly as close as I’ll get to that Michael Clark & The Fall I Am Kurious Oranj video I want …

I always get a bit of a thrill when I see the Valley of Desolation on the map when walking near Bolton Abbey. It’s actually very nice
Walking a stretch of Hadrian's Wall? (Too obvious? 😬😳)
I’m looking for tips on walking in Northumberland. What’s the best way to make the most of 5 days there?
Of course! Fab blog!
One big takeaway for me—or at least my current hypothesis—when I recall the generally dismissive / sneering attitude to these & other femme-centric media (from comics, to stand up comedy and pop music in the 1980s & 1990s) is that teenage boys & young men are all (okay: 99.999999 %) idjits.
