A squirrel runs along the top of a wooden fence carrying a muffin.

A man lies sprawled on the floor of his kitchen, beside a still-warm oven, blood seeping from dozens of claw marks on his face and neck. Sirens begin to wail in the distance as a shadowy figure silently slips away from Drury Lane.

I watch PBS’s Nova religiously and learned last night that Oxford has developed a new vaccine for malaria that has 70-80% efficacy and it just got approved by the WHO and will save millions of lives in the years to come. Sharing some good news bc it tends to get lost out there.

Feels like I’m about halfway through, and so far #AlanWake2 is as good as a sequel gets. Remedy outdoes themselves every time. #videogames

Some day, I will submit a paper to a journal and I will NOT have to reset my password.

Today is not that day.

FWIW, the FVTT implementation of PF2E is excellent. Of the systems I have played/run in Foundry - PF2E, 5E, CoC 7, Primal - it is easily the fullest-featured and most GM-enabling.

I've already pre-ordered the sketch covers of the books. :) But there are a lot of considerations. My Vaults campaign is barely level 3; it'll still be going thru the remaster. But I'm running it on Foundry VTT, and the PF2E module gets updated with the remaster. Not sure where we'll land.

PF here. There isn't anything more WotC could do to fix the OGL fiasco, but the whole affair sucked the fun out of it. So I switched my campaign to PF2E; all the rules being free, the remaster shouldn't interrupt us; I can still use my books. TotV's problem is I own A5E if I want not-technically-5e.

guys like SBF and Elon have spent their entire lives being able to talk their way into or out of just about anything, which causes them to struggle in situations where it would be useful to shut the fuck up

I love dinosaur documentaries, but I wish we had similar docuseries about really deep time. As in before trees evolved. Show me the Cambrian explosion. I realize we know way less about those epochs, but I am happy to accept reasonable hypotheses and extrapolations.

Need to settle on a modern #CallOfCthulhu scenario for a one shot this weekend. That needs to for really real be a one shot, not a one but really probably two shot. Something from Fear’s Sharp Little Needles? From The Things We Leave Behind?

It’s called “LA Wine Bar.” It is in Iowa City. It has exactly six wines available. Also excellent (for Iowa) bibimbap.

Turns out in 40 years of gaming, I don’t think I’ve ever played a superhero game. Unless the old Micronauts board game counts (it doesn’t).

Every now and again, I suddenly realize that Roger Zelazny is no longer with us, and we’ll never get to know what Ghostwheel got themselves up to in the end, and it makes me sad every time.

Stephen R. Donaldson and Piers Anthony for me. Quite a different experience than the Asimov, Brooks, Feist, Eddings, Le Guin, Duane etc etc that my parents helpfully kept at eye level for me around the house.
