Yeah, I also block people who speak this devil tongue.

On October 9th Israel cut off water to the civilian population of Gaza. That's a war crime and should have been enough.

The October 7th attacks were an atrocity but they are not relevant here.

It depends upon the context. That's why people use phrases like "people who menstruate". That's a category of people who have a commonality that could be relevant in some settings.

Real talk: NixOS is amazing and I run it everywhere I can. But it will remain a pita until software developers target it and maintain their own nix packages and associated documentation. (Also, we need a solution to push security updates for things like browsers.)

I used to think I loved NixOS but my therapist helped me understand I just learned bad relationship patterns from being abused by Windows in my youth.

3. The US has and will retain a large car stock that can absorb any short term shock of that type. And if China decides to stop selling to the US entirely, that's not worse than stopping them. This argument feels a lot like "You can't fire me, I quit!"

1. US manufacturers could sell to people who don't want cheap electric cars.

2. That's pretty easy to regulate as long as you're willing to not let US manufacturers spy on you either. (Also, what's China gonna do with that data? Invade the US because I made fun of Xi?)

They just don't want to admit that a pack of tiny dogs devoured the passengers.

Does Starmer have a fetish for getting yelled at that we have all gotten tricked into indulging?

So you take a guess at someone's biological characteristics, assume that said characteristics line up (something which we know to be false) and that's biological sex? Surely you can see how that's not a sound classification system.

For instance, "has a penis", "does not have prominent breasts" and "has lower estrogen levels" are three correlated characteristics. But if you try to collapse them into a single "biological sex" you immediately run into the problem that the correlation is not perfect.

No. What I said was that you can often guess at someone's biological sexual characteristics by looking at them. But that doesn't mean "biological sex" is a thing. Just because two things are correlated doesn't mean you can collapse them into a single dimension.

What makes you think I use it?

It's also a revolutionary fantasy. The existing institutions feel unstoppably good at reproducing themselves. But maybe if everything collapses we can rebuild something better.

What's wrong with letting Chinese taxpayers help finance your cars?

The privacy and cyber security concerns would be a lot more valid if they didn't apply to US companies equally.

1 day ago 0 0 0 0

That is not a thing. The biological characteristics you are referring to diverge in a number of individuals and are not stable throughout life. The fact that we can make a guess that is usually correct about some of someone's biological characteristics does not mean it's a sound classification.

Can NixOS be loved?

Or when Nazi Germany stripped Jews of their citizenship.

Or when the US at various times denied citizenship to slaves, Chinese people, Native Americans, people the current president doesn't like, etc...

Or when various post-Yougoslavia states denied citizenship to disfavored groups.

Kind of like when South Africa created a bunch of bantustans, made most non-White citizens citizens of those bantustans and then were able to claim all citizens had equal rights.

That's pretty legitimate.

I already explained it to you. It's not ethnonationalism because the goal was not to preserve or create power and advantage for a specific ethnic group. It was to retaliate against Israel's actions. It's also a bad thing, but a different bad thing.

Also, dhimmi laws were not ethnically based.

From past experience, carry over goals feel like failure until you remember how much you learned and how much of an opportunity you have to keep going.

I've heard about Reform municipal officials promising to do municipal DOGE only to realize they already had no money to spend and there wasn't a woke department for them to shut down.

This has nothing to do with self-determination.

That's not to say I approve of this kind of immigration policy, but Germany has laws that are specifically designed to help non-ethnic Germans who lost their citizenship in the 1940s regain that citizenship. Where is the Israeli law granting citizenship to people it forcibly expelled in the 40s?

This affects a specific set of people who were persecuted by the Soviet Union because of their German ethnicity and their immediate children. And again, this is obviously not an attempt to disenfranchise a pre-existing non-German population.
