So far it looks like I could get this story working in RPG Maker, but torn on that vs focusing on polishing it into the previous cyoa focused layout and tweaking for smoother Steam deck play, instead.
For now I'm writing the rest of the story as that needs to be done either way.βοΈ

More concept art, trying to get placeholders for characters for now.
Seeing how Venyr looks, testing expression changes. Probably tweak the art a bit later but good enough for now. Now to make placeholders for everyone else and get the story entered to see what else I need.
Tossed some of the intro into the engine. 99% base graphics still. Only changed Sheveio for now (somewhat obviously), to test bust size and emotion changes, see how it looks.

Some sprite work, sorry I've been so quiet. Decided to poke around in RPG Maker and I'm considering making this next story an rpg, instead.
I hired a ghost writer for my first scenes, so that's how that went.

Timelines can definitely be intimidating, especially if a solodev /on a very small team. I wish you luck staying motivated, many of us struggle with the same.

Slowly making some tilesets. At least enough for a demo level with everything I need. I'm thinking soft outlines for environment, harder for the characters to make them pop a bit. π€ We'll see how it looks once it's up and the character is moving around.

More artwork and size testing. Different fantasy races have slight height differences- figure "dragon" based on lore should look about to hit their heads on a ceiling. Still just early mockups to see how "tiles" need to be made/sized.π€
