Aga ovens are always on, so the covers are there to prevent too much heat from escaping the underlying plate when not in use.

In 2003, #fvwm launched a logo competition:
www.fvwm.org/fvwm-ml/1050...
This was to coincide with fvwm's tenth birthday.
Several suggestions were put forward, as is archived here:

I just think it's a lovely piece of window manager history.
Issue 3 has arrived back from the printer!
If you didn’t buy a copy on pre-sale, now’s your chance. Limited stocks, so get yours now at unchcrosswords.com
Amazing! I had no idea, what a lovely thing, Ashley. :)
Enjoy! Were you lucky enough to have seen the original lot when Hump was around? I bet that would have been a real treat! If they do Uxbridge Dictionary, I expect a representation in your next crossword. ;) ;)

Today in the Guardian, 29,985 by Philistine.
5dn: X÷e = 13-19 (4)
Def is 13-19, i.e. "TEEN". Why? TEN (X), with E dividing it. Teens are 13-19 years old.
A very respectful not to Qaos on this one, who's famed for his maths clues: "1005001001000 -- see? (5)". CLOCK.
It would be my privilege! Please do!

In other crossword news, my copy of issue3 of Unch Magazine arrived on Friday: unchcrosswords.com
It's a really neat little magazine with lots of fun crosswords. It only costs me ~£5 and well worth the money!
Oh, @unchcrosswords.com if I could get ep 1, let me know!

#29983 on Friday saw Hat make his debut (my crossword page confirmed it: xteddy.org/gcc-analysis...).
Best clue: "Batter, work Frenchman over (6)" - took me a while to equate batter to mean Cricket! I should know better by now.
Note the Nina in the grid as well!
I love that you chose to clarify the smut factor!

Today's guardian cryptic 29981 by Paul was fun. This was non-smutty Paul on top form. My favourite was: 26ac: "A loch out of which pulled the first old nut (6)": ALMOND. A + L(O)MAND. Excellent clue!
Why? You'll figure out why... :)
Thanks, Ashley! I did jokingly suggest that maybe Crossword Compiler would have helped with the grid fill. Heh, heh... ;)
Thank you, Pat! It’s a very tasty cake, full of rich coffee flavours. 🙂
It’s more like an “anagram by example”.
No. Not quite a reverse anagram.
BTW, 7,23dn is a type of clue which can be really subtle. I know 225 will bear all tomorrow. @boatmancryptics.co.uk — I don’t think there’s spoilers at this point, but for the aforementioned clue, what do you call that type? I hope it has a name?

Hello everyone, and Happy Easter!
I've been busy trying to get to this point, and now I’m releasing cow!
cow, is a "Compositor on Wayland", which aims to look-and-feel like mwm and fvwm from X11, but instead, running on wayland.
codeberg.org/thomasadam/cow
Happy Easter.
No spoilers as this is @boatmancryptics.co.uk’s prize crossword in the Guardian. There’s a week before the reveal:
www.theguardian.com/crosswords/p...
I’ve completed it now. This is a great crossword. Boatman has a knack of putting himself in the clues. This is no exception.
Thanks, Ashley!
Another corker, Ashley! I’m almost complete. I do have question or two, but will wait a week for the poor soul blogging this on 225. 🙂 Either way. I hope we see more of you in the G!
Heh. I think it says more about my solving skills than it does your clueing!! Besides which the answer I initially put is what I would use. But now I see why I was wrong. Phew! 🙂
Interesting ... I suppose other three-letter words are available, but I don't think any of them would fit the clue! All will become clear when discussed next Saturday, I'm sure ...
And you're welcome!
Thanks, Ashley! Brilliant as always. You beat me at 12ac. The three letter word I entered was incorrect! Heh. I admit, I’m unsure of the wordplay on this one. 🙂
In @theguardian.com crossword tomorrow - no hints, as prizes are at stake - enjoy!
It’s an incomplete story, anyway. KDE won’t stop there.
You ought to file a bug on fvwm3’s GitHub repo so I can take a look at it for you.
After reminiscing a bit after Adams post, I just had to do it. Last time I installed FVWM on Debian, Debian was still in its pre-version 1 days.
Nothing special, just default config on a VM. May have to load it up on one of my test systems and have some fun.
Trixie + FVWM3
Never!
