Fair. The article said 80km of third rail sections to charge them up. Electric islands do seem a good idea. Cheaper than delivering whole electrification, it is a half measure though. 3rd rail as well you don't have to worry about panto lifting and dropping.

Saw an article about the west of England line needing upgrading and the 159s needed replacing. They said about using electric islands. Areas where batteries can charge using 3rd rail. What you reckon?
