This board game as a rights-based method for data collection and the findings we got from its implementation demonstrate play can be a valuable methodological approach in classroom-based educational research.

The most rewarding (and fun!) research method I have co-created so far has to be this board game that we used in the Children's School Lives study to explore children's experiences of learning in school.
The paper that describes the co-creation process is here👉 journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10....

Senior professors - if you want to help your junior colleagues in these times, I am begging you, review our papers. I have done 25 manuscript reviews in the last 6 years. But my own manuscript is stalled out waiting for reviewers. Relatedly, I won't be doing any more reviews until tenure. 🧪
This weekend I gave a presentation to a group of mostly college-aged folks and had a little line at the beginning of my slides that described it as an "AI-free presentation made by a human, for humans" and I had to pause for clapping at that part
you love to see it
Exactly 💯

"Empathy is a key element of our education system, one that we are trying to find ways of teaching to students. A simple example of showing empathy is to listen to students and let your interactions with them be led by their needs, not your own ideology."

My lecture today was on Peace & education and it is the first time in years that students were simply unable to imagine a world without violence.
The violent and genocidal times we are living in have eroded hope, are slowly but steadily limiting our imagination of better futures.

The quest to build a better AI tutor
It’s easy to get swept up in the hype about artificial intelligence tutors. But the evidence so far suggests caution. Some studies have found that chatbot tutors can backfire because students lean on them too heavily, get spoonfed solutions and fail to absorb…

This is a fantastic book for children (and adults!) to learn about social movements & protests through history but also a great resource on activism repertoire as it showcases individual + collective actions that can be used today in current fights for #SocialJustice #ClimateAction and #HumanRights
Ta-Nehisi Coates said, “You can’t talent your way to writing. It’s built. It’s a built thing. It’s a made thing. So the real thing you got to do is you got to come back to that bad writing and you’ve got to revise.”
Like James Baldwin said, “I’m not a writer. I’m a re-writer.”
When policymakers cannot 'find the evidence they need' to make decisions, it should not be understood that the problem lies with Universities or researchers.
For me it seems that the problem with engaged research is in the 'bridges', and while researchers must help build them it is not their role.
