This is a reminder that you can still ask real people for advice and recommendations. You don't have to ask the robot for everything. In fact there are some things you definitely should not be asking the robot about.

We’re not talking about a court of law. We’re talking about using our judgment to understand the people we’re dealing with.
Also where the fuck are your preparations for the worst? When are we gonna see them? Don’t you think now is the time?
It's not actually. It's precisely the fact that white people need everything to be spelled out in Black and white before they will act that has us in this mess in the first place. Waiting for it to be "firmer" while they start wars and decimate populations.
Yeah it's actually a really good exercise in whether you actually know what racist dog whistles sound like.
Okay but who IS talking about the racial superiority subtext? Cause that seems kind of important. We like to ignore that part when it actually explains all the rest of it.
Hey. What's your handle? I haven't played in a couple weeks actually. Been busy.
"The gun had been purchased by Reynolds, but was given to the Kollmans in exchange for a PS5."
America.
A screenshot of a bluesky post by me. It reads "What if you just kept these thoughts inside your head? That's always an option. Think about it." It's a reply to a post that we can't see because I've been blocked. This implies that the person did not receive my comment in the spirit that it was given.
I was trying to be nice. I think I need more practice.
What if you just kept these thoughts inside your head? That's always an option. Think about it.
It feels like shit keeps happening and nobody is in charge. It can't be Trump. He's incompetent. And most of his cabinet of cronies is as well. How does any of this shit work if people can just do whatever they want with no consequences?
I keep saying this in different ways. But It's not just about Trump. Trump has exposed how fragile our entire system is. So many institutions are failing. And it's not just him. Billionaires are also running roughshod over everything people care about. And nobody seems to be able to prevent it.
I believe that one of the things that is most demoralizing right now is that no one is serious about stopping Trump. What we get from Democrats and other leaders is that we should wait for the midterms. What does it mean that we don't have rules that allow us to remove someone this egregious?
When people say "felons shouldn't be allowed to be president", what they're usually thinking is "can't we use the fact that he's a felon to prevent him from being president?"
That thread from @leftistlawyer.com is a great examination of the problems with that. But we have to dig deeper.
I spend a lot of time trying to educate people who muddy the waters by parroting simplistic ideas like "felons shouldn't be allowed to be president".
But what I'm also trying to do is hear it differently. Most people don't feel strongly about it. They just want a way to prevent another Trump.
This is a good thread. I used to tell people that we need more nuance in these discussions. But honestly I don't ever expect that to happen. It's not that people don't understand nuance. It's that they don't wanna be responsible for figuring it out.

I'm not sure why this is a hard concept for so many so-called economists. (Actually of course I do. We don't talk about how economists are disincentivized to actually admit the economy is bad.)
Damn. They even ran Rob off the internet. The nicest and most uncontroversial person you can imagine. Literally all he does is read comic books and explain them to people. But he followed the wrong person on twitter and now we get the "taking a break" video. Makes me sad.

It sounds like you need to talk about this stuff that is very personal to you. You don’t have to do it in other people’s mentions. You can talk about it on your own timeline. You won’t get what you need by hijacking other people’s conversations.
I’m sorry to hear that. But don’t you think it matters that they did that because you wanted to help non-white people? Not direct discrimination against you?
Protest for what? Being Italian or whatever?
People talk about being oppressed like it’s a status symbol. Like being able to complain about racism makes you sound cool. We talk about our oppression because it’s still happening. You should feel free talk about your family’s history. It doesn’t require trying to take over this conversation.
Who is “everybody”? Are you under the impression that people actually care about anti-black oppression? Have you looked around at where we are? You’re complaining that your oppression is largely in the past and so people don’t talk about it? Seriously, you should feel fortunate.
Why does it feel like erasure? Isn’t it possible that your family faced some terrible things but it’s in a different category than anti-black racism? Why do you need it to be the same?
I'm trying to find where i predicted that they would eventually surface ads in ai chatbots. Anyway that's still gonna happen, but it turns out they're starting with shopping.

Carrying my Birth Certificate with me at all times now.
It didn’t have to be this way.
Oh, also. I've been procrastinating on finding a new therapist for a really long time. Please clap. 😂
I will admit that if my therapist talked like this, I would probably be looking for a new one. Again, not because I think it's "wrong". Only because I believe therapy is the one place where you actually get to be picky as fuck and seek exactly the environment that suits you best.
Sorry, to be clear, this wasn't the therapist. Just the person who does their initial intake calls. This isn't meant to be a huge judgment. He was actually cool and helpful. It's just this part that threw me off.
I'm finding a new therapist, and I just got off an intake call. I don't know if it's a millennial or gen z thing. I know professional norms are gonna shift with generations. But please don't tell me you think I'm gonna "crush it" at therapy. I know what you meant. But still.
