I was also talking about Solar System gas giant spectra and how unique they look between filters. I then proceeded to say hot while starting at the very bottom of the stellar CMD.

There’s a whole thread of these — letters from detained children who are scared and suffering.

It is a matter of moral urgency to abolish ICE.

Referred to the SDSS CCD + Filter image from Gunn+1998 as artistic because it is!!!!!!

Galaxy Slam
Galaxy Slam YouTube video by The University of Arizona

The University of Arizona Basketball team is doing an astronomy night ("Galaxy Slam") and they put out a trailer with astronomers from Steward and the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, including NIRCam PI Marcia Rieke, and I love it, it's *so* endearingly dorky.

It’s not about drugs. If it was, Trump wouldn’t have pardoned one of the largest narco traffickers in the world last month.

It’s about oil and regime change.

And they need a trial now to pretend that it isn’t. Especially to distract from his sinking under Epstein and skyrocketing healthcare costs.

An infrared image of the planet Jupiter, showing its atmospheric heat patterns in glowing shades of orange and gold against a black background. The image highlights the planet’s distinct horizontal bands: the darker, cooler cloud decks appear as deep brown or black stripes, while the warmer, deeper layers of the atmosphere glow brightly. A prominent dark oval in the southern hemisphere represents the Great Red Spot, which appears cool in this thermal view. Smaller swirling vortices are visible across the entire surface

This week’s image is of Jupiter! Since this image comes from Gemini North NIRI, which has a field of view of 22x22”, a mosaic of multiple images was used to obtain this stunning portrait peering into Jupiter’s cloud-forming region. Check out a few paper highlights in the thread! #Astronomy
