I think the Ioniq 5 is one of the best looking cars available, but I like that VW way better than the Ioniq 3! Maybe in a few years one or both’ll show up here.

actual nytimes headline FEMA Official Says He Teleported to Waffle House. Experts Are Dubious.
you, a naive fool: i do believe there are some things the nytimes won’t both sides
the nytimes:
Wow I just noticed the clipboard manager I stopped using a year ago or more left like 1 GB of data buried in my ~/Library somewhere. Extremely tempted to dig through it and see if I need to paste any of it somehwere.
I usually don't post music I'm going to play on my radio show here, so as not to spoil the surprise, but this contemporary prog duo is absolutely wild, and you need to see them play in full costume. youtu.be/0Ssi-9wS1so #prog
It is wild to me that a military incursion to steal another country’s resources so the president can have a personal slush fund in Qatar is like the 5th most scandalous thing currently happening.
I live in the 12–18-inch zone if this map. In theory this is fun. In reality I don’t own decent gloves or boots and I do own an ice cream shop.
@bugcounter.bsky.social @benchapmanncsu.bsky.social just got home with this (from Cary, NC, H Mart) and realized it’s 28 days past “Use By”. Ingredients at www.naturesoy.com/vegan-beef
Claude says to inspect packaging/smell/appearance, ChatGPT insists on tossing. Can we get a human tie breaker?
Not just Mexican restaurants. Many places are doing this, including some McDonald’s and supermarkets.
I mean I *knew* that the whole plan was for Machado to go to the White House and physically give Trump her Nobel Prize and yet I still feel like I’m disassociating that it happened.
Wish I could remember any names because there were at least 2, covered credulously by MacOSRumors, the worst rumor site. At least they didn’t take preorder money tho
@gruber.foo speaking of completely fantastical products: remember in the pre-Jobs-comeback days when random sites would claim they were on the cusp of releasing a PowerPC-native, backward compatible, preemptive multitasking replacement OS for Macs? What a time.
Several other Europeans pulled off convincing American accents too. Oh and the plot was clever.
Josh O’Connor was terrific in Wake Up Dead Man, which was way better than I expected (and toned down in goofiness compared to the last two). After that and Challengers, I’ll give any Josh O’Connor movie a chance.
I will find like a handful of movies to watch whenever we turn on Netflix, but then it takes a while to turn it back off because it has the biggest/newest selection of K-Dramas, which my wife enjoys. But I’d rather just keep HBO Max most of the year, for the movie selection
I have Prime and Apple subs because bundles and churn in and out of the other ones haphazardly. We generally keep Netflix for a few 2–3 month stretches per year.
They’re killing people as a twitter joke. It’s depraved. Can’t let yourself lose the capacity to be appalled and disgusted and outraged by this.
Now that I’ve watched the pretty-ok Fight or Flight, I feel as though I’ve a duty to also watch Flight Risk (in spite of the Mel Gibson of it all). Wonder how soon it’ll hit a subscription streamer.
Just saw this too, hope there are some used ones floating around by the time our Bolt EUV feels old! I still do not understand the putative difference between “hatchback” and “compact SUV” but the EV3 looks marginally nicer than the EV4 hatch (and way better than the hideous sedan).
Is EV4 hatch confirmed to be coming here? I can never keep up with all the small EVs getting their U.S. launches canceled/delayed. I’m already thinking about what’ll eventually replace the ’23 Bolt we just got
Fiddler on the Roof: wanted to like it more than I did. None of the actors involved in the romance parts of the plot were all that compelling. Handful of good songs but quite a bit of filler. If you want to watch 3 hours with big families and state-sponsored antisemitism, stick with Sound of Music.
South Pacific had its moments, below-average songs, above-average plot, middling acting, not enough dancing. Watched it a few weeks ago already so I forgot what else I thought.
Who knows what the production timelines were like back then, but I guess I’d have to spend a lot of time in the present trying to track down bills no newer than idk 1951. If I showed up at Gene’s trailer with neat stacks of 21st century money I might be committed. Maybe gold bars would be easier.
I mean, I generally think works of art that mention other fictional works of art should fully realize the nested ones. If I won the lottery and a time machine, I’d dump buckets of money on Gene Kelly and insist he make The Dancing Cavalier and release it a few weeks after Singin’ in the Rain.
I’d like to think that Redd Stewart and Pee Wee King composed the sub-Tennessee Waltz on the spot and never played it for anyone else, just so they’d know what the fictional band was playing for the fictional narrator and his sweetheart and friend.
It can’t be the same song! Wait, no, it could be by the time someone’s done the 3rd or 10th our-universe recording of it. Their instance’s narrator might be thinking of a different performance of our world’s song, but at some point to avoid infinite recursion, it has to refer to the fictional one.
I can’t be the only one who thinks about the Tennessee Waltz meta issue several times a week, right? Like in the universe of the lyrics to (our world’s) “Tennessee Waltz” there’s a preexisting “Tennessee Waltz” that they dance to. What’s it sound like? Does it have lyrics?
Fuckin crazy how the Netflix app for Apple TV no longer mentions the director of any movie.
I like how the last couple episodes of Slow Horses dropped in one super predictable plot twist and one completely wild one. Feels like they always have just the right mix of that per season.
Just watched The Third Man and figured I’d go check out what people think about it on Letterboxd and jfc, there are really users just trashing the incredible score. That shit is so good, makes me want to just listen to zither music the whole rest of the week.
