Oh man. I’m he came back to Wisconsin, but sad to learn he passed away at age 43

You probably knew this, but So High was co-written by Mentor Williams (Paul Williams’ brother who wrote Drift Away)
BTW, I’ve been meaning to shout out a couple of players on Jackie DeShannon’s Don’t Let The Flame Burn Out:
James Gasdon (Bill Withers, Thelma Houston) & David Paich
I always learn so much, even on subjects I’ve followed for decades
Oh wow! I definitely remember this, but wasn’t able to recall it without queuing it up. Thanks Ross!
Such a great tribute by STE! I had totally forgotten about Dave’s involvement with Listen To What The Man Said
Random: for a few years I wondered if Dave Mason & Nick Mason were brothers. Traffic &
Pink Floyd band photos weren’t that common on albums and the pics with the hats always stuck with me
Sad to hear he passed. This was a big hit on KSLQ in St. Louis. I would’ve guessed it had hit the BB top
20. R.I.P.
1982 was a weird time for Aerosmith & KISS fans
And whenever I quit something I add that I’m unlegit, but qualify it with how I used to be too legit, too legit to quit
Yes!
I’m reminded of Fred Bronson writing about From Me To You charting on KRLA in 1963 6 months before The Beatles first appeared on the H100.
FMTY Bubbled Under at #116 on BB. It was a different single w/ b-side Thank You Girl than what charted in ‘64 when FMTY was Please Please Me’s new b-side
Rare instance of my childhood CHR sending a song to #1 (3 weeks) that missed the H100 top 40

4/16/1983:
#53 Affair Of The Heart - Rick Springfield
#55 Faithfully - Journey
#59 Time - Culture Club
#80 I Eat Cannibals - Total Coelo
#83 Why Me - Planet P
#86 Cool Places - Sparks and Jane Wiedlin
#89 Electric Avenue - Eddie Grant
#90 Never Gonna Let You Go - Sergio Mendes
Love this! Old 97’s are my favorite active American band. They seem to be having more fun at clubs than most bands I see in bigger venues. They’ll often do a song the opening act, like Caitlin Rose
I just found this Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life single. I had no clue George Harrison mixed it. (I’m not surprised, given the birth of HandMade Films)
In honor of Jim Morrison faking his death:
Wonder Woman-American Hot Wax (1979)
•Judge Reinhold & Sarah Purcell à la Cptn & Tennille
•Rick Springfield in a KISS/Hudson Bros band
•Revolution 9 “Turn Me On Deadman” reference
•A Sgt. Pepper cover rip-off w/ 🎅 /clue. “Dead” singer living in Santa Monica
Too many options for me

BTW two of the prized singles in my collection are Irish pressings of Silly Love Songs & Let Em In on Apple. I especially love the latter with Beware My Love, my favorite mid 70s McCartney track, on the unsliced 🍏 side
Hi Steven, thanks for the kind words! I’ve since picked up a copy from Norway, leaving Israel as the only country pressing listed on Discogs not in my collection.
I’m excited to out your podcast, especially the Kevin Godley episode. 10cc’s first 5 albums are among some of my favorites
+ While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Another big criticism of Steckler’s choices is only including 2 songs from Revolver.
Steckler also plays significantly into the Badfinger story. He was their main advocate at Apple. Hired Rundgren to finish Straight Up. Remixed Baby Blue for US single
My mind immediately goes to Petty’s Wildflowers. More than once I thought I was buying a complete collection of B-sides & outtakes
4/16/1977:
#50 Got To Give It Up Pt. 1 - Marvin Gaye
#77 Dreams - Fleetwood Mac
#93 Watcha Gonna Do? - Pablo Cruise
Ha! Random Fess Parker: I knew him from his winery (decent for cheap) before learning of acting roles Daniel & Davey
It’s must’ve pretty cool to be like: I own the label & I’ve still got chops
Wish I could see The Truants tonight. Instead I’ve now got a great playlist for the weekend #AT40
4/11/1987:
#62 Wanted Dead Or Alive - Bon Jovi
#83 Head To Toe - Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam
#84 Diamonds - Herb Alpert
#97 Don't Disturb The Groove - The System
Mad Magazine 1972
What day did god create Spinal Tap, and couldn't he have rested on that day too?
I’m surprised they didn’t use Velvet Underground’s Who Loves The Sun.
Comes The Sun by The Archies was a new one for me
Can’t tell if this is a real time tornado warning related post or a DTF St. Louis related post
Very cool! Congrats!
Same, especially since 1953’s TWOTW is as highly regarded as Spielberg’s adaptation
