#PublicHealth is always political... due to action or inertia. But this is on a different level. This has global implications and I worry that in days, we are wiping out progress achieved in decades.

Opt-out testing in ED is reaching people we normally don't via other settings.
Here the characteristics of people with new
#HIV diagnoses, by setting (full report: www.gov.uk/government/p...)
Why is opt-out testing in ED important?
It's an inclusive approach and can address inequalities in testing among people who may not identify themselves as at risk of a BBV or experience barriers to accessing other health services. It offers an opportunity to re-engage people in care.
Proportion of people newly diagnosed and linked to care has increased for all BBVs
1,957 new HBV diagnoses, 762 new HCV diagnoses and 391 new HIV diagnoses.
Higher proportion on new diagnoses in Women, people over 50 and people living in the most deprived areas
Higher proportion of people of Black ethnicity were newly diagnosed for all BBVs
