State gun law rankings 2026 NYS has 4th lowest rate of gun violence
In New York, we've always prioritized public safety and common sense gun laws. Today, NYS has the 4th strongest gun laws in the nation and the 4th lowest rate of gun violence in the country. Here in NYC, that rate is even lower.

NEW: We just joined more than 200 organizations condemning President Trump’s dangerous threats to commit war crimes and grave atrocities in Iran.
Our leaders must follow the Constitution and international law and urgently act to stop any targeting of civilians by this administration.
Like even if this all ends without an escalation from the present level of bloodshed Trump and his administration should be held accountable for the threat alone. Making this threat, on its own, is a crime against humanity.
Regardless of whether it’s all talk, when the leader of our country expresses plainly genocidal intent, everyone has to do something.
For citizens of all political stripes, it means rejecting this madness. For Congress, it means taking action to rein him in. Now.

To describe hundreds of thousands of deaths on the continent as “messy” is an absolute abomination.
